Phase-locked loop and operating method of the phase-locked loop

Abstract

The present disclosure involves a phase-locked loop and an operating method of the phase-locked loop. The phase-locked loop includes a phase detection circuit configured to detect a difference between phases of a first clock and a second clock, a charge pumping circuit configured to perform a charge pumping operation based on an output signal of the phase detection circuit to generate a control voltage, a voltage generation circuit configured to buffer the control voltage to generate an operating voltage, and configured to vary a level of the operating voltage in proportion to changes in a level of the control voltage and an amount of a control current, an oscillating circuit configured to generate the second clock that toggles at a frequency corresponding to the level of the operating voltage, and a size adjustment circuit configured to adjust the amount of the control current to maintain the level of the control voltage within a range between a set first level and a set second level.
