Optical network unit and registration method thereof

Abstract

An optical network unit (ONU) and a registration method thereof are provided. The registration method executing by the ONU includes: determining whether or not a network parameter setting message broadcast by the OLT is received in a standby state; in response to determining that the network parameter setting message is received, entering a serial number state while starting a timer to generate a timing period; receiving at least one serial number request message from an optical line terminal in the serial number state, sending a serial number response message each time the serial number request message is received in the serial number state when the timing time does not exceed an exploration time, and determining whether an identification code allocation message is received, in which the exploration time is not less than at least twice a period of a sequence number request message; and in response to determining that the identification code allocation message is received when the timing time does not exceed the exploration time, entering a ranging state.
