Abstract

A shorts-type absorbent article having a waist opening and a pair of leg openings, and having intersecting longitudinal, lateral, and thickness directions when unfolded and extended, comprising: an outer component; and an absorbent body having an absorbent core containing pulp fibers and a highly absorbent polymer located closer to the skin than the outer component. The weight per unit area of the pulp fibers in the absorbent core is greater than the weight per unit area of the highly absorbent polymer. In the unfolded and extended state, when viewed in the thickness direction, the first position is defined as the center of the shorts-type absorbent article in the longitudinal direction, 10 mm from both ends of the absorbent core in the lateral direction. The position located in the lateral direction is the front of the waist opening. The second position is defined as the position of the two central regions of the four equal parts of the aforementioned outer component, which are located 10 mm from the two ends of the aforementioned outer component in the aforementioned longitudinal direction. The third position is defined as the position of the inner region of the two equal parts of the aforementioned outer component, which are located 10 mm from the left and right ends of the aforementioned outer component constituting the aforementioned pair of leg openings in the left and right direction, which do not overlap with the aforementioned absorbent body. The absorbent core is at least located in the aforementioned first position. In the natural state, the maximum thickness from the non-skin side of the aforementioned outer component in the aforementioned first position to the skin side of the aforementioned absorbent body is less than the maximum thickness of the aforementioned outer component in the aforementioned second position, and greater than the maximum thickness of the aforementioned outer component in the aforementioned third position.
