Dust removal device and method

Abstract

The dust removal device 1, comprising a housing 10, a dust removal roller 20, and a drive source 30, removes dust adhering to the surface of a workpiece. The dust removal roller 20 has a plurality of roller grooves 20a along the axial direction on its surface. The housing 10 includes a housing portion 11 for accommodating the dust removal roller 20, an opening 12 that opens the housing portion 11 toward the workpiece surface, and a connecting portion 16 that connects the inside of the housing portion 11 to the outside. The housing portion 11 has an inlet portion 13 that progressively widens the gap between itself and the surface of the dust removal roller 20 in the direction of rotation of the dust removal roller 20, and a throttling portion 14 that gradually narrows the gap from the inlet portion 13 toward the direction of rotation of the dust removal roller 20. The connecting portion 16 has a slit-shaped cross-section parallel to the rotation axis, and the slit width is smaller than the gap of the inlet portion 13. The dust removal device 1 further includes an attraction portion 15 that attracts the interior of the housing portion 11 downstream of the opening 12 in the direction of rotation of the dust removal roller 20.
