Welding methods and ventilation hole formation methods for hollow components

Abstract

This invention provides a welding method for reliably sealing a vent hole without causing burn-through and dripping around the vent hole in a hollow component. The welding method for the hollow component includes: a vent hole forming step, which involves forming a vent hole (23) extending to the hollow side in a hollow component (21) made of metallic material and having a hollow structure, and forming the vent hole in such a way that the area around the vent hole bends and protrudes towards the hollow side; a welding step, which involves performing welding processing on a workpiece (25) on the hollow component with the vent hole; and a vent hole sealing step, which is performed after the welding step to seal the vent hole by welding.
