Electric assisted bicycle

Abstract

This invention provides an electric-assisted bicycle capable of providing appropriate assistance. The electric-assisted bicycle 1 includes: wheels 2 and 3; a control device 50; pedals 4; a rotating device 70; a motor 40 having a reducer 10 and an auxiliary pedal 4; a first sensor 5 for detecting the rotational speeds of wheels 2 and 3; a second sensor 6 for detecting the rotational speed of the motor 40; and a fifth sensor 9 for detecting the rotational speed of pedal 4. The control device 50 determines the gear ratio Gr of wheels 2 and 3 based on the rotational speeds Nw of wheels 2 and 3, the rotational speed Nm of the motor 40, and the reduction ratio grMDU of the rotating device 70. When the rotational speed Np of pedal 4 decreases and falls below a first rotational speed Npg1, the assistance to pedal 4 is discontinued. When the rotational speed Np of pedal 4 increases and exceeds a second rotational speed Npg2, assistance to pedal 4 begins, and the assistance is initiated based on the changed gear ratio Gr during the period from discontinuation to initiation of assistance.
