Abstract

This invention relates to a quantum dot body comprising quantum dots that emit fluorescence upon excitation light. The quantum dots comprise a core of semiconductor nanoparticles and a shell of semiconductor nanoparticles encapsulating the core. The surface of the quantum dots is coated with a metal oxide, the surface of which is modified with a compound containing methacryloyloxyethyl and a hydrophilic group as represented by formula (I). The outermost surface has a polymer coating layer formed by the aforementioned methacryloyloxyethyl and reactive substituents of a polymer. This provides a quantum dot body that maintains the fluorescence properties of quantum dots while improving stability and compatibility with highly polar solvents or photosensitive resin compositions. (R1 represents a hydrophilic group).
