Abstract
A tripod-type constant velocity universal joint and a closed-die forging method are disclosed. The tripod component, having radially protruding foot axles, is formed by closed-die forging. The outer peripheral surface of the foot axle is formed into a convex spherical shape. The foot axle has a protrusion that bulges radially outward from its protruding end surface. The protrusion is an unmachined portion formed during closed-die forging.
