Abstract

This invention provides an in-vehicle device and a control method. A technique is provided that can increase the amount of information that can be transmitted. N (N≥2) magnets are positioned at locations separated along a track for vehicle travel, to provide reference information for vehicle travel based on a combination of the types and spacing of the magnets. The in-vehicle control device (30) includes: a magnetic sensor unit (10) that detects the magnetic field generated by a magnet when passing through its position; a determination unit (355) that determines whether the position of the detected magnet is passed and determines the type of the detected magnet based on the detection result of the magnetic sensor unit (10); and an acquisition unit (357) that acquires the reference information based on the result of the interval and type determination made by the determination unit (355) for passing.
