Abstract

A method for processing an unmap command, applicable to a flash memory controller, designed to update a logical-to-physical (L2P) mapping table and a valid page count (VPC) table based on the unmap command. The method comprises the following steps:(a) clearing the L2P entries in the L2P mapping table that correspond to the unmapped range of the unmap command in a bulk manner; (b) rebuilding the VPC table based on the L2P entries in the L2P mapping table that correspond to the area outside of the unmapped range.
