Techniques for configuration of performance monitoring of reference signals and reports

Abstract

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) receives a channel state information (CSI) reporting configuration including a set of measurement resources for determining predicted channel characteristics for a set of prediction target occasions. The UE is further configured with a set of performance monitoring resources for monitoring performance of the predicted channel characteristics, where the set of performance monitoring resources may be configured via the same CSI reporting configuration, or a different CSI reporting configuration. The UE performs a first set of measurements within the set of measurement resources, and generate the predicted channel characteristics for the set of prediction target occasions based on the first set of measurements. The UE then performs a second set of measurements within the performance monitoring resources, and evaluate an accuracy / performance of the predicted channel characteristics by comparing the first and second sets of measurements.
