Image processing apparatus and method

Abstract

This disclosure relates to an image processing apparatus and method capable of suppressing the increase in decoding processing load. A secondary transformation identifier is set such that secondary transformation is only performed when the relevant information of the block size is below a predetermined threshold; based on the set secondary transformation identifier, secondary transformation is performed on coefficient data derived from image data; the set secondary transformation identifier is encoded to generate a bitstream. This disclosure is applicable to, for example, image processing apparatuses, image encoding apparatuses, image decoding apparatuses, information processing apparatuses, electronic machines, image processing methods, or information processing methods.
