Abstract

A hot carrier solar cell includes a semiconductor layer, a metal layer, a first electrode, and a second electrode. An upper surface of the semiconductor layer is flat or forms an inverted pyramid structure or microstructure array. A lower surface of the metal layer contacts with an upper surface of the semiconductor layer. The first electrode contacts with an upper surface of the metal layer. The period of the inverted pyramid structure array and morphology, thickness, deposition rate, particle size, particle spacing, annealing temperature, etc. of the metal layer each affects properties of the cells.
