Extracellular vesicles isolated from cistanche tubulosa and uses thereof

Abstract

Extracellular vesicles derived from the parasitic plant Cistanchetubulosa are prepared by a process comprising: disrupting the cell wall of Cistanchetubulosatissue, centrifuging to remove precipitates, reacting the resulting material with polymer molecules, and centrifuging to collect precipitates to isolate the extracellular vesicles. The extracellular vesicles are for use in at least one of protecting retinal pigment epithelial cells from oxidative stress‑induced damage and protecting corneal epithelial cells from hyperosmotic stress‑induced damage, thereby providing ocular protection.
