Abstract

Composite particles are disclosed containing micronized silica particles held together by a binder. The silica particles have a relatively high surface area and can include micropores and mesopores. A binder is selected that produces composite particles with macropores. The macropores serve as highways for access to the pore structure of the silica particles when the composite particles are contacted with a fluid. The composite particles are well suited for adsorption processes.
