Abnormal state detection method and grinding device

Abstract

The objective of this invention is to provide an abnormality detection method and grinding apparatus that can detect the occurrence of abnormal conditions in a workpiece based on the load state of the grinding surface. The grinding apparatus 1 of this invention includes: a grinding tool 10, which is pressed against the surface of a glass plate G; and a drive unit 20, which drives the grinding tool 10 to rotate; and monitors the load current value of the drive unit 20, detecting the occurrence of abnormal conditions in the glass plate G based on the difference in the time variation of the load current value from the normal state.
