A knife blade has different edge regions with different compositions. The different edge regions allow for different materials on the same edge of the blade, such as the lower edge. The different materials can vary in terms of characteristics such as hardness, toughness / brittleness, corrosion resistance, formability, ease of manufacturing and availability. The solutions provide a correspondence between the selected materials and / or geometry of the different edge regions of the blade and the intended uses and functions of the regions, to optimize the performance of the knife.
