Abstract
Description
Pipe cutter suitable for various pipe sizes This invention relates to hand tools, and in particular to a pipe cutter for stably clamping and cutting pipes of different sizes. Note that various types of pipes (copper pipes, iron pipes, PVC hoses, etc.) are frequently used in engineering operations. These pipes are usually manufactured to a considerable length, but in practical applications, only a portion may be needed. In such cases, pipe cutting equipment is required to cut the pipes to the required length. Typically, pipe cutting operations can be performed in advance at the factory using a pipe cutting machine operated hydraulically or pneumatically to cut the target pipe, which is then brought to the site for use. However, pipe cutting machines are large machine tools, and not all engineering units possess such equipment. When on-site workers need to perform pipe cutting operations temporarily, a portable pipe cutter is necessary. Patent M401522 discloses a portable pipe cutter that integrates a set of circular blades and a set of rollers in a body. A drive assembly passes through the body and is connected to the rollers. The rotational operating element of the drive assembly is located outside the body. A conversion unit connects the body, the drive assembly, and the rollers, thereby converting the rotational motion of the rotational operating element into the linear displacement of the rollers, and adjusting the relative distance between the rollers of the rollers and the circular blades of the circular blades, thus adapting to the cutting of metal pipes of different diameters. However, the problem with the aforementioned pipe cutter is that when the pipe to be cut is too large, the angle between the first point of contact between the circular blade and the pipe and the second point of contact between the outermost roller of the roller assembly and the pipe exceeds 180 degrees. In this state, the three-point positioning formed by the circular blade and the roller assembly cannot effectively lock the pipe in place, causing the pipe to slip out of the pipe cutter during the pipe cutting operation, making it impossible to cut the pipe. Therefore, how to provide an improved pipe cutter that can effectively solve the above problems is one of the urgent issues that industry players and R&D personnel in related fields need to address. The main objective of this invention is to provide a pipe cutter applicable to various sizes of pipes, which can effectively improve the stability and safety when clamping pipes. To achieve the aforementioned objective, the present invention provides a pipe cutter applicable to various pipe sizes, comprising: a main body having a cutting space, with an opening on one side communicating with the cutting space; a cutting blade movably disposed on the main body, with at least a portion located within the cutting space; a roller assembly movably disposed on the main body; the roller assembly having a roller seat, a first roller, and a second roller; the first roller and the second roller being pivotally mounted on opposite sides of the roller seat, with the first roller being closer to the opening than the second roller; and a control component disposed on the main body. The main body is connected to the roller assembly for operation by a user to drive the roller assembly to move along a moving direction, thereby changing the distance between the roller assembly and the cutter; wherein, when a pipe is placed in the cutting space, the cutter, the first roller, and the second roller respectively abut against the outer wall of the pipe; wherein, the height of the first roller along the moving direction of the roller assembly is higher than the height of the second roller along the moving direction of the roller assembly, so that the included angle between a first clamping point where the pipe contacts the cutter and a second clamping point where the pipe contacts the first roller is always less than 180 degrees. In one embodiment, the control component has a cam rotatably disposed within the main body; the cam has a first cam surface and a second cam surface, and the bottom side of the roller seat has a top abutment surface; when the cam is rotated to the point where the first cam surface abuts against the top abutment surface, the roller assembly is adjusted to a first height; when the cam is rotated to the point where the second cam surface abuts against the top abutment surface, the roller assembly is adjusted to a second height. In one embodiment, the control component has a knob rotatably disposed on one side of the main body and connected to the cam for being driven to rotate the cam; wherein the knob has a plurality of auxiliary parts arranged radially and an indicator part, the indicator part being formed between two of the auxiliary parts, and the length of the indicator part being less than the length of the auxiliary parts. In one embodiment, the control component further includes a positioning assembly having a positioning bead, a spring element, and a positioning disk; the positioning bead and the spring element are embedded in a through hole of the cam, the through hole being generally parallel to the axial direction of the cam; the positioning disk is disposed between the cam and the main body; wherein the two ends of the spring element abut against the bottom of the through hole and the positioning bead, respectively, so that the positioning bead extends out of the through hole and abuts against the positioning disk. In one embodiment, the positioning disk has a plurality of positioning holes distributed around the positioning disk, and the positions of the positioning holes correspond to the positions of the positioning beads when each cam surface of the cam contacts the top abutment surface. In one embodiment, the main body is provided with a stop block adjacent to one side of the cam; the cam further has a third cam surface, a fourth cam surface and a stop surface; the third cam surface is adjacent to the second cam surface, the fourth cam surface is adjacent to the third cam surface; the stop surface is adjacent to the fourth cam surface; when the first cam surface abuts against the top abutment surface, the stop surface abuts against the stop block, so that the cam cannot continue to rotate in the direction approaching the stop block. In one embodiment, the roller assembly has two elastic members disposed on opposite sides of the roller seat, and the extension direction of the two elastic members is generally parallel to the movement direction of the roller assembly; the two ends of the two elastic members abut against the roller seat and the main body respectively, thereby applying an elastic force to cause the roller seat to tend to move away from the cutter. In one embodiment, the roller assembly has two elastic members disposed on opposite sides of the roller seat, and the extending direction of the two elastic members is not parallel to the moving direction of the roller assembly; the two ends of the two elastic members are respectively connected to the roller seat and the main body, thereby applying an elastic force to cause the roller seat to tend to move away from the cutter. In one embodiment, the outer diameter of the first roller is larger than the outer diameter of the second roller. In one embodiment, a pipe cutter applicable to various pipe sizes includes: a main body having a cutting space and an opening on one side communicating with the cutting space; a cutting blade movably disposed on the main body, with at least a portion located within the cutting space; a roller assembly movably disposed on the main body, the roller assembly having a roller seat, a first roller, and a second roller; the first roller and the second roller are respectively pivotally mounted on opposite sides of the roller seat, and the first roller is closer to the opening than the second roller; and a control... A control component, disposed on the main body and connected to the roller assembly, is used for operation by a user to drive the roller assembly to move along a moving direction, thereby changing the distance between the roller assembly and the cutter; wherein, when a pipe is disposed in the cutting space, the cutter, the first roller and the second roller respectively abut against the outer wall surface of the pipe; wherein, the outer diameter of the first roller is larger than the outer diameter of the second roller, such that the included angle between a first clamping point of contact between the pipe and the cutter and a second clamping point of contact between the pipe and the first roller is always less than 180 degrees. The following are preferred embodiments based on the objectives, effects and structural configurations disclosed in this invention, and are described in detail with reference to the drawings. Please refer to Figures 1 to 5. A pipe cutter suitable for various pipe sizes, provided in a first preferred embodiment of the present invention, mainly comprises: a main body 10, a cutting blade 20, a roller assembly 30, and a control assembly 40. Wherein: The main body 10 is a generally C-shaped arc structure, consisting of two arc-shaped shells 11 arranged side by side. The main body 10 has a cutting space 12, a receiving groove 13, and an opening 14. The cutting space 12 is located in the center of the main body 10 and is used to accommodate the tubing. The receiving groove 13 is located below the cutting space 12 and is a recess corresponding to the shape of the roller assembly 30, for accommodating the roller assembly 30. The opening 14 is formed on one side of the main body 10 and communicates with the cutting space 12. The main body 10 also has a track 15, located above the cutting space 12, for accommodating at least a portion of the cutting blade 20. The main body 10 further has two curved grooves 16, located above the two tracks 15 and communicating with them. In this embodiment, each curved groove 16 is provided with a curved plate 160 and a ball 161. The curved plate 160 covers the track 15, and its bending direction corresponds to that of the track 15. The ball 161 is located between the groove 16 and the curved plate 160, with its two ends abutting against the bottom surface of the groove 16 and the curved plate 160 respectively, so that the curved plate 160 is fixed above the track 15. The cutting blade 20 is disposed on the main body 10, with at least a portion located in the cutting space 12, for cutting pipes located in the cutting space 12. Specifically, the cutting blade 20 has a cutting blade 21, a cutting shaft 22, and a pre-pressing member 23. The cutting blade 21 has a circular cutting edge 210 and a circular flange 211, the flange 211 extending outward along the axial direction of the cutting edge 210, and the outer diameter of the cutting edge 210 is larger than the outer diameter of the flange 211. The cutting shaft 22 passes through the axis of the cutting blade 21, allowing the cutting blade 21 to rotate along the axial direction of the cutting shaft 22. Both ends of the cutting shaft 22 abut against the track 15, allowing the cutting blade 20 to move along the track 15. The preload 23 is a U-shaped bar spring, with one end fixed to the main body 10 and the other end pressed against the outer periphery of the flange 211 of the cutter 21, thereby applying a spring force (first preload) to the cutter 21, causing the cutter 21 to tend to move from the inside of the track 15 to the outside (i.e., towards the opening 14). The roller assembly 30 is movably disposed in the receiving groove 13 of the main body 10, and includes a roller seat 31, two elastic members 32, a first roller 33, and a second roller 34. The roller seat 31 has a first roller groove 310, a second roller groove 311, two elastic member positioning grooves 312, and a cam groove 313. The first roller groove 310 and the second roller groove 311 are respectively disposed on opposite sides of the roller seat 31. The positioning grooves of the two elastic members 32 are located below the first roller groove 310 and the second roller groove 311, and are used to accommodate the two elastic members 32. The cam groove 313 is disposed on the bottom side of the roller seat 31, wherein the roller seat 31 forms a top abutment surface 314 at the bottom of the cam groove 313. The two elastic elements 32 are disposed in the two elastic element positioning grooves 312 of the roller seat 31, and their two ends act on the main body 10 and the roller seat 31 respectively, so as to generate elastic force to make the roller seat 31 move away from the cutter 20. The first roller 33 is pivotally mounted in the first roller groove 310 of the roller seat 31 via a first axle 330. The second roller 34 is pivotally mounted in the second roller groove 311 of the roller seat 31 via a second axle 340. The first roller 33 is closer to the opening 14 than the second roller 34, meaning the first roller 33 is farther from the center of the main body 10 than the second roller 34. Furthermore, the roller assembly 30 has an orthogonal longitudinal axis and a transverse axis. The longitudinal axis is generally parallel to the direction of movement of the roller assembly 30; the transverse axis is generally perpendicular to the direction of movement of the roller assembly 30. In this embodiment, the outer diameter of the first roller 33 is the same as that of the second roller 34, and the height of the first roller 33 along the longitudinal axis is greater than the height of the second roller 34 along the longitudinal axis. The control assembly 40 has a cam 41, a knob 42, and a positioning group 43. The cam 41 is a polygonal column structure, pivotally mounted in the receiving groove 13 of the main body 10, and has a first cam surface 411, a second cam surface 412, a third cam surface 413, a fourth cam surface 414, and a fifth cam surface 415. The distances from the cam surfaces to the axis of the cam 41 are all different, and one of the cam surfaces 411, 412, 413, 414, and 415 abuts against the top abutment surface 314 of the roller assembly 30. Therefore, the distance between the roller assembly 30 and the cutter 20 is controlled by the cam 41. For example, when the cam 41 is rotated until the first cam surface 411 abuts against the top abutment surface 314, the roller assembly 30 is adjusted to a first height; when the cam 41 is rotated until the second cam surface 412 abuts against the top abutment surface 314, the roller assembly 30 is adjusted to a second height, and so on. The first cam surface 411 is closest to the axis of the cam 41; the fifth cam surface 415 is furthest from the axis of the cam 41. One end of the cam 41 protrudes from one side of the main body 10 and connects to the knob 42. Thus, rotating the knob 42 controls the cam 41, and since the cam 41 abuts against the roller assembly 30, rotating the knob 42 adjusts the position of the roller assembly 30. In this embodiment, the knob 42 has three radially extending auxiliary portions 421 and an indicator portion 422. The three auxiliary parts 421 are at an angle of 120 degrees to each other. The indicator part 422 is located between two of the auxiliary parts 421, and the length of the indicator part 422 is less than the length of the auxiliary parts 421. The auxiliary parts 421 are used to provide the user with an auxiliary position for gripping and applying force when turning the knob 42. The indicator part 422 is used to point to one of the plurality of pipe size scales 17 on the outside of the main body 10, to indicate to the user what size pipe the roller assembly 30 is currently used to clamp at its current position. The positioning assembly 43 includes a positioning bead 431, a spring element 432, and a positioning disk 433. The positioning bead 431 and the spring element 432 are embedded in a through hole 416 of the cam 41, the through hole 416 being generally parallel to the axial direction of the cam 41. The two ends of the spring element 432 abut against the bottom of the through hole 416 and the positioning bead 431, respectively, causing the positioning bead 431 to extend out of the through hole 416 and abut against the positioning disk 433. The positioning disk 433 is disposed in the receiving groove 13 of the main body 10, and has five positioning holes 433a distributed around the positioning disk 433. The positions of the five positioning holes 433a correspond to the positions of the positioning bead 431 when the five cam surfaces 411, 412, 413, 414, and 415 of the cam 41 contact the top abutment surface 314. Under normal conditions, when any of the cam surfaces 411, 412, 413, 414, 415 of the cam 41 abuts against the top abutment surface 314, the positioning bead 431 engages with one of the corresponding positioning holes 433a of the positioning disk 433 to form a position, preventing the knob 42 from rotating easily. When a larger force is applied to the knob 42, the positioning bead 431 compresses the elastic member 432 and disengages from the positioning hole 433a, allowing the cam 41 to rotate until another of the cam surfaces 411, 412, 413, 414, 415 abuts against the top abutment surface 314 again, at which point the positioning bead 431 also re-engages with the other corresponding positioning hole 433a of the positioning disk 433 to form a position. According to the above structural configuration, when the user wants to cut a pipe T of a corresponding size, the knob 42 can be rotated until the indicator 422 points to the corresponding pipe size scale 17, and the roller assembly 30 will also move along the longitudinal axis to the corresponding position under the rotation of the cam 41. Then, the pipe T is installed in the cutting space 12 of the main body 10. At this time, the cutter 21 will continue to move backward under the pressure of the pipe T until the pipe T is simultaneously clamped by the cutter 20, the first roller 33 and the second roller 34 to form a three-point positioning. Among them, since the height of the first roller 33 is higher than the height of the second roller 34, the included angle between the first clamping point t1 where the pipe T contacts the cutter 20 and the second clamping point t2 where the pipe T contacts the first roller 33 is always less than 180 degrees, as shown in Figure 5. This effectively improves the stability and safety of the clamping, and effectively prevents the pipe fitting T from slipping out of the cutting space 12 during the cutting process. Please refer to Figure 6. The pipe cutter provided in a second preferred embodiment of the present invention, applicable to various pipe sizes, has a structure similar to that of the first preferred embodiment. However, in this embodiment, the outer diameter of the first roller 33 is larger than the outer diameter of the second roller 34, ensuring that the included angle between the first clamping point t1 where the pipe fitting T contacts the cutter 20 and the second clamping point t2 where the pipe fitting T contacts the first roller 33 is always less than 180 degrees. It is particularly noteworthy that this embodiment, based on the first preferred embodiment where the height of the first roller 33 along the longitudinal axis is higher than the height of the second roller 34 along the longitudinal axis, further enhances the fixing strength of the three-point positioning by adding a structural design where the outer diameter of the first roller 33 is larger than the outer diameter of the second roller 34. However, the present invention is not limited to this. In another embodiment, the outer diameter of the first roller 33 can be made larger than the outer diameter of the second roller 34 while the first roller 33 and the second roller 34 are kept at the same height. Similarly, the included angle between the first clamping point where the pipe T contacts the cutter 20 and the second clamping point where the pipe T contacts the first roller 33 can be kept less than 180 degrees. Please refer to Figures 7 and 8. A third preferred embodiment of the present invention discloses a pipe cutter suitable for various pipe sizes, mainly comprising a main body 50, a cutting blade 60, a roller assembly 70, and a control assembly 80. The main body 50 is composed of two arc-shaped shells 51, having a cutting space 52, a receiving groove 53, and an opening 54. The structure of the cutting space 52 and the opening 54 is similar to that of the first preferred embodiment, and its details will not be described in detail. The bottom of the receiving groove 53 is generally arc-shaped, and a stop block 530 is provided on one side of the receiving groove 53. The main body 50 has two first positioning posts 55 on opposite sides of the receiving groove 53. The cutting blade 60 includes a cutting blade 61, a cutting shaft 62, and a preload member 63. The structure of the cutting blade 61 and the cutting shaft 62 is similar to that of the first preferred embodiment, and its details will not be described again. The preload member 63 is a W-shaped bar spring with a plurality of bent sections 630, which are folded and compressed to provide preload force when the cutting blade 61 is compressed and moves inward. The roller assembly 70 includes a roller seat 71, two elastic members 72, a first roller 73, and a second roller 74. The roller seat 71 has a bottom abutment surface 710, two through slots 711 on both sides, and two second positioning posts 712 formed in the through slots 711. The height of the two second positioning posts 712 is higher than the height of the two first positioning posts 55. The two elastic members 72 are respectively disposed on opposite sides of the roller seat 71. Each elastic member 72 is a tension spring with a hook portion 720 at both ends, which hooks onto the first positioning post 55 and the second positioning post 712 on the same side, respectively. The elastic member 72 is obliquely disposed between the roller seat 71 and the main body 50, and the extension direction of the two elastic members 72 is not parallel to the movement direction of the roller assembly 70. The two ends of the two elastic members 72 are respectively connected to the roller seat 71 and the main body 50, thereby applying an elastic force to cause the roller seat 71 to tend to move away from the cutter member 60. The structure of the first roller 73 and the second roller 74 is similar to that of the first preferred embodiment, and its details will not be described in detail. The control assembly 80 includes a cam 81, a knob 82, and a positioning group 83. The cam 81 is an irregular block pivotally mounted in the receiving groove 53 of the main body 50, and has a first cam surface 811, a second cam surface 812, a third cam surface 813, a fourth cam surface 814, a stop surface 815, and a transition concave surface 816. The distances from the cam surfaces 811, 812, 813, and 814 to the axis of the cam 81 are all different, and one of the cam surfaces 811, 812, 813, and 814 abuts against the top abutment surface 710 of the roller seat 71. Therefore, the distance between the roller assembly 70 and the cutter 60 is controlled by the cam. Among them, the first cam surface 811 is closest to the axis of the cam 81, and the fourth cam surface 814 is farthest from the axis of the cam 81. The stop surface 815 is adjacent to the fourth cam surface 814. When the first cam surface 811 contacts the top abutment surface 710, the stop surface 815 abuts against the stop block 530 of the main body 50, restricting the cam 81 from continuing to rotate upward. Due to the design of the stop block 530 and the stop surface 815, the cam 81 in this embodiment can only rotate in one direction and cannot rotate in the opposite direction. The transition concave surface 816 is formed between the stop surface 815 and the first cam surface 811. The structure of the knob 82 and the positioning group 83 is similar to that of the first preferred embodiment, and its details will not be described in detail. In summary, compared to conventional pipe cutters where the clamping angle is greater than 180 degrees, which can easily cause the pipe to detach from the cutter during the cutting operation, the pipe cutter provided by this invention, which is applicable to various sizes of pipes, utilizes the asymmetrical (different heights and / or different sizes) structural design of the first roller 33 and the second roller 34. This ensures that when the pipe is placed in the cutting space 12, the angle between the first point of contact between the pipe and the cutter 20 and the second point of contact between the pipe and the first roller 33 is always less than 180 degrees. As a result, the stability of the three-point positioning formed by the cutter 20, the first roller 33, and the second roller 34 is significantly better than that of conventional pipe cutters, while also improving pipe cutting safety and efficiency. The above embodiments are merely illustrative of the technology and effects of the present invention and are not intended to limit the present invention. Any person skilled in the art can modify and change the above embodiments without departing from the technical principles and spirit of the present invention; therefore, the scope of protection of the present invention should be as described in the patent application scope below. 10: Main body 11: Arc-shaped shell 12: Cutting space 13: Groove 14: Opening 15: Track 16: Curved groove 160: Bend plate 161: Ball 17: Pipe size scale 20: Cutting tool 21: Cutting tool 210: Blade 211: Flange 22: Cutting shaft 23: Pre-compression part 30: Roller assembly 31: Roller seat 310: First roller groove 311: Second roller groove 312: Elastic element positioning groove 313: Cam groove 314: Top abutment surface 32: Elastic element 33: First roller 330: First wheel axle 34: Second roller 340: Second wheel axle 40: Control component 41: Cam 411: First cam surface 412: Second cam surface 413: Third cam surface 414: Fourth cam surface 415: Fifth cam surface 416: Through hole 42: Knob 421: Auxiliary part 422: Finger 43: Positioning assembly 431: Positioning bead 432: Elastic component 433: Positioning disc 433a: Positioning hole T: Pipe t1: First clamping point t2: Second clamping point 50: Main body 51: Arc-shaped shell 52: Cutting space 53: Groove 530: Stop block 54: Opening 55: First positioning post 60: Cutting component 61: Cutting blade 62: Cutting shaft 63: Pre-compression component 630: Bending section 70: Roller assembly 71: Roller seat 710: Top abutment surface 711: Through groove 712: Second positioning post 72: Elastic component 720: Hook part 73: First roller 74: Second roller 80: Control component 81: Cam 811: First cam surface 812: Second cam surface 813: Third cam surface 814: Fourth cam surface 815: Stop surface 816: Transition concave surface 82: Knob 83: Positioning assembly Figure 1 is a perspective view of a first preferred embodiment of the present invention.
