Abstract

A carbon material such as graphene and graphene mesoporous sponge is provided. To improve electronic or ionic conductivity and suppress the reduction of mechanical strength, an internal space is formed within the carbon material, and fine pores are formed within the carbon material, thereby increasing the specific surface area. The carbon material 1 of the present invention has a plurality of hollow particle-shaped portions 21, which form internal spaces 23 in a spaced manner and are formed by a surrounding wall 22 made of carbon material containing a graphene structure. The carbon material 1 has one or more connecting structures 2, and fine pores are formed in the connecting structures 2.
