Polyethylene terephthalate resin and its manufacturing method

Abstract

[Objective] To provide a polyethylene terephthalate resin with low antimony content and a method for manufacturing the same. [Solution] A polyethylene terephthalate resin in which the antimony content is 0.40 ppm by mass or less and the zinc content is 0.05 ppm by mass or less. A method for manufacturing the polyethylene terephthalate resin as claimed in claim 1 or 2, comprising a step of reacting terephthalic acid or an ester derivative of terephthalic acid with ethylene glycol to obtain bis(hydroxyethyl) terephthalate, wherein a zinc compound is added to the reactants when the acid value of the reactants reaches 250-450 eq / t.
