Abstract

Previous xaton dyes have high solubility in water or alkaline aqueous solutions and are prone to leaching. Salt-forming compounds with quaternary ammonium salts are not suitable for stable industrial-scale production. The object of this invention is to provide a xaton pigment with excellent water and alkali resistance, and to provide a colorant for color filters with good color properties by using a coloring composition containing this pigment. The following general formula (1) represents the xaton pigment; a coloring composition containing this pigment; a colorant for color filters; and a color filter. [In formula (1), R1 to R4 represent -H, alkyl, or aromatic hydrocarbon groups; R5 to R9 represent -H, halogen atoms, SO3-, -SO3M, sulfonyl, -COO-, -COOM, carbonyl, etc.; Gu represents a guanidine cation; and An represents an anion.]
