Water-based resin composition and surface treatment agent

Abstract

This invention provides a surface treatment agent that is free of organic fluorine compounds that raise concerns about environmental impact and exhibits excellent repellency and droplet removal properties against water and oil. The invention uses an aqueous resin composition comprising: acrylic polymer particles (A); and water, wherein the acrylic polymer particles (A) are made from acrylate monomers (a1) having alkyl groups with 16 to 22 carbon atoms and methacrylate monomers (a2) having hydrocarbon groups as essential raw materials, wherein the homopolymer of the monomer (a2) has a glass transition temperature of 20°C or higher, the mass ratio (a1 / a2) of the monomer (a1 / a2) in the monomer raw materials of the acrylic polymer particles (A) is 25 / 75 to 95 / 5, and the particle size distribution (D90 / D10) of the acrylic polymer particles (A) is 2 to 20.
