Abstract

The objective of this invention is to provide an optical laminate that can be made thinner and, when applied to an image display device, improves the visibility of light transmitted through an optical component with polarizing properties. As a solution, the optical laminate of this invention sequentially comprises a first retardation film, a polarizing element, and a second retardation film. The first retardation film includes a liquid crystal compound-cured layer. The in-plane phase difference Re(450) of the first retardation film is 100 nm or more and 130 nm or less. The Re(450) / Re(550) ratio of the first retardation film is greater than 1.
