Abstract

A head-up display (HUD) and an in-vehicle display system are disclosed herein. The HUD includes an image generating unit and an optical unit. The image generating unit includes a backlight module, a first display module, and a second display module. The backlight module provides a light source. The first display module is disposed on the backlight module and is used to form a first image beam according to the light source. The second display module is disposed on the first display module and is used to form a second image beam according to the light source. The optical unit is disposed in a first optical path of the image generating unit and is used to transmit the first image beam and the second image beam formed by the image generating unit along a second optical path to a target element to form a first virtual image and a second virtual image, respectively.

Claims

1. A head-up display device, comprising: An image generating unit includes: a backlight module for providing a light source; a first display module disposed on the backlight module and for forming a first image beam according to the light source; a second display module disposed on the first display module and for forming a second image beam according to the light source; and an optical unit disposed on a first optical path of the image generating unit and for transmitting the first image beam and the second image beam formed by the image generating unit along a second optical path to a target element to form a first virtual image and a second virtual image, respectively; wherein the first display module and the second display module have different object distances relative to the optical unit, so that the first image beam and the second image beam are transmitted through the optical unit at the same effective focal length to form the first virtual image and the second virtual image with different image distances.

2. The head-up display device as described in claim 1, further comprising: A sensing unit used to sense a distance to an object; A control unit electrically connected to the sensing unit and the image generating unit, and configured to determine, based on the sensed distance to the object, whether to form information corresponding to the object into the first image beam or the second image beam.

3. The head-up display device as claimed in claim 2, wherein in response to the control unit deciding to form the information corresponding to the object into the first image beam and the first image beam being formed by a plurality of first pixel units in the first display module, the control unit controls the pixel values of a plurality of second pixel units in the second display module at the same positions as the first pixel units to be zero.

4. The head-up display device as claimed in claim 2, wherein the first virtual image has a first image distance relative to the optical unit, the second virtual image has a second image distance relative to the optical unit, and the first image distance is greater than the second image distance.

5. The head-up display device as claimed in claim 4, wherein in response to the sensed distance of the object being between the first image distance and the second image distance, the control unit determines to form the information corresponding to the object into the second image beam.

6. The head-up display device as claimed in claim 4, wherein in response to the sensed distance to the object being greater than the first image distance, the control unit determines to form the information corresponding to the object into the first image beam.

7. A head-up display device, comprising: An image generating unit includes: a backlight module for providing a light source; a first display module disposed on the backlight module and for forming a first image beam according to the light source; a second display module disposed on the first display module and for forming a second image beam according to the light source; a third display module disposed on the second display module and for forming a third image beam according to the light source; and an optical unit disposed on a first optical path of the image generating unit and for transmitting the first image beam, the second image beam, and the third image beam formed by the image generating unit along a second optical path to a target element to respectively form a first virtual image, a second virtual image, and a third virtual image. The first display module, the second display module, and the third display module have different object distances relative to the optical unit, so that the first image beam, the second image beam, and the third image beam are transmitted through the optical unit at the same effective focal length to form the first virtual image, the second virtual image, and the third virtual image with different image distances.

8. The head-up display device as claimed in claim 7, further comprising: A sensing unit used to sense a distance to an object; A control unit electrically connected to the sensing unit and the image generating unit, and configured to determine, based on the sensed distance to the object, to form information corresponding to the object into the first image beam, the second image beam, or the third image beam.

9. The head-up display device as claimed in claim 8, wherein in response to the control unit deciding to form the information corresponding to the object into the first image beam and the first image beam being formed by a plurality of first pixel units in the first display module, the control unit controls the pixel value of a plurality of second pixel units in the second display module at the same position as the first pixel units to be zero, and controls the pixel value of a plurality of third pixel units in the third display module at the same position as the first pixel units to be zero.

10. A vehicle-mounted display system, comprising: One windshield; An image generating unit includes: a backlight module for providing a light source; a first display module disposed on the backlight module and for forming a first image beam according to the light source; a second display module disposed on the first display module and for forming a second image beam according to the light source; and an optical unit disposed on a first optical path of the image generating unit and for transmitting the first image beam and the second image beam formed by the image generating unit along a second optical path to the windshield to form a first virtual image and a second virtual image, respectively; wherein the first display module and the second display module have different object distances relative to the optical unit, so that the first image beam and the second image beam are transmitted through the optical unit at the same effective focal length to form the first virtual image and the second virtual image with different image distances.
