Abstract

This invention provides an electronic paper display device and its driving method, which can accelerate the updating of the display screen. The electronic paper display device includes an electronic paper display panel, a host, and a controller. The host provides image data. During screen updates, when the image data is updated from first image data to second image data, the controller interrupts the first control signal generated based on the first image data to drive the electronic paper display panel to display the first image data, and generates a second control signal based on the current image data, the second image data, and a lookup table to drive the electronic paper display panel to display the second image data.

Claims

1. An electronic paper display device, comprising: An electronic paper display panel; a host computer for providing image data; The system also includes a controller coupled to the host and the electronic paper display panel, wherein during a screen update, when the image data is updated from first image data to second image data, the controller is configured to: interrupt a first control signal generated based on the first image data to drive the electronic paper display panel to display the first image data; record the image data at the time when the electronic paper display panel is interrupted from displaying the first image data as the current image data; and generate a second control signal based on the current image data, the second image data, and a lookup table to drive the electronic paper display panel to display the second image data.

2. The electronic paper display device as claimed in claim 1, wherein the controller is further configured to: record an interruption drive screen moment when the electronic paper display panel is interrupted from displaying the first image data.

The electronic paper display device as claimed in claim 2, wherein the controller is further configured to: look up the lookup table to obtain a sub-lookup table according to the interrupt driving screen time; calculate waveform sequence data according to the current image data, the second image data and the sub-lookup table; and generate the second control signal according to the waveform sequence data.

4. The electronic paper display device as claimed in claim 1, wherein the lookup table includes multiple sub-lookup tables corresponding to multiple interrupted drive screen moments.

A driving method for an electronic paper display device, comprising: During a screen update, when image data is updated from first image data to second image data, a controller interrupts the display of the first image data by generating a first control signal based on the first image data; the controller records the image data at the time when the display of the first image data is interrupted as the current image data; and during the screen update, the controller generates a second control signal based on the current image data, the second image data, and a lookup table to drive the display of the second image data on the electronic paper display panel.

6. The driving method as described in claim 5 further includes: The controller records the moment when the electronic paper display panel is interrupted from displaying the first image data.

7. The driving method as described in claim 6 further includes: The controller searches the lookup table to obtain a sub-lookup table based on the interrupt-driven screen time. The controller calculates waveform sequence data based on the current image data, the second image data, and the sub-lookup table; and generates the second control signal based on the waveform sequence data.

8. The driving method as described in claim 5, wherein the lookup table includes multiple sub-lookup tables corresponding to multiple interrupt driving screen moments.
