Abstract

This invention provides an electrical connector assembly with smooth terminal mating and resistance to bending, as well as a first electrical connector and a second electrical connector. The first electrical connector includes a first insulating housing, a plurality of first conductive terminals, and a terminal stabilizer. The mating side of the first insulating housing forms a first mating cavity; the plurality of first conductive terminals are installed inside the first insulating housing, and the mating ends of the first conductive terminals protrude from the first mating cavity; the terminal stabilizer is movable in a front-rear direction within the first insulating housing; the terminal stabilizer has a plurality of terminal exposure holes to expose the mating ends of the first conductive terminals; the mating side of the terminal stabilizer has at least one pair of elastic locking structures, and an insertion space is provided between the pair of elastic locking structures. Each elastic locking structure includes at least one first locking claw extending away from the mating direction, and the first locking claw can lock onto the first insulating housing, thereby keeping the terminal stabilizer and the first conductive terminals in a fully mated position.

Claims

1. A second electrical connector, comprising: A second insulating housing having a second mating cavity formed thereon, the second insulating housing having a locking device and an opening; a plurality of second conductive terminals installed within the second insulating housing, the mating ends of the second conductive terminals protruding into the second mating cavity; an independent secondary locking device capable of being inserted into the opening to lock the second conductive terminals to the second insulating housing; a cover plate installed within the second mating cavity, the cover plate having a plurality of terminal exposure holes to correspondingly expose the plurality of second conductive terminals, the cover plate protruding at least one guide head in the mating direction. The locking device includes a connector position holding device to prevent it from disengaging. An independent secondary locking mechanism is located on the opposite side of the locking device. This independent secondary locking mechanism includes a locking arm, multiple positioning protrusions on the locking arm, and at least one elastic locking latch, which is used to lock onto the second insulating housing. The independent secondary locking mechanism includes a base and three locking arms extending from the base. It has two elastic locking latches, which are respectively connected to the outer sides of two locking arms located on either side.

2. A second electrical connector, comprising: A second insulating housing having a second mating cavity formed thereon, the second insulating housing having a locking device and an opening; a plurality of second conductive terminals installed inside the second insulating housing, the mating ends of the second conductive terminals protruding into the second mating cavity; an independent secondary locking device capable of being inserted into the opening to lock the second conductive terminals to the second insulating housing; a cover plate installed inside the second mating cavity, the cover plate having a plurality of terminal exposure holes to correspondingly expose the plurality of second conductive terminals, the cover plate protruding at least one guide head in the mating direction; wherein the guide head is conical, the guide head including a rear conical portion and a front conical portion formed on the front side of the rear conical portion, the front conical portion being connected to the cover plate.

3. A second electrical connector, comprising: A second insulating housing having a second mating cavity formed thereon, the second insulating housing having a locking device and an opening; a plurality of second conductive terminals installed inside the second insulating housing, the mating ends of the second conductive terminals protruding into the second mating cavity; an independent secondary locking device capable of being inserted into the opening to lock the second conductive terminals to the second insulating housing; a cover plate installed inside the second mating cavity, the cover plate having a plurality of terminal exposure holes to correspondingly expose the plurality of second conductive terminals, the cover plate protruding at least one guide head in the mating direction; wherein, the cover plate includes a first cover plate portion and two second cover plate portions respectively disposed on both sides of the first cover plate portion, each second cover plate portion having one guide head.

4. The second electrical connector as claimed in claim 1, wherein the second insulating housing is provided with two positioning protrusions, and the elastic latch of the independent secondary latch can engage with the two positioning protrusions respectively, thereby enabling the independent secondary latch to be held in a pre-assembled unlocked state and a fully locked state.

5. The second electrical connector as described in claim 2 or 3, wherein the second insulating housing is provided with two positioning protrusions, and the elastic latch of the independent secondary latch can engage with the two positioning protrusions respectively, thereby enabling the independent secondary latch to remain in a pre-assembled unlocked state and a fully locked state.

6. The second electrical connector as claimed in claim 2 or 3, wherein the locking device is provided with a connector position holding device for preventing the locking device from disengaging, wherein the independent secondary locking device is located on the opposite side of the locking device.

7. The second electrical connector as claimed in claim 6, wherein the independent secondary locking device includes a locking arm, a plurality of positioning protrusions disposed on the locking arm, and at least one resilient latch for correspondingly locking to the second insulating housing.

8. The second electrical connector as claimed in claim 7, wherein the independent secondary locking device includes a base and three locking arms extending from the base; the independent secondary locking device has two resilient latches, the two resilient latches being respectively connected to the outer sides of two locking arms located on both sides.

9. A connector assembly comprising a first electrical connector and a second electrical connector as described in any one of claims 1-8, the first electrical connector being mating with the second electrical connector, the first electrical connector comprising: A first insulating housing, wherein a first mating cavity is formed on the mating side of the first insulating housing; A plurality of first conductive terminals are installed within a first insulating housing, with the mating ends of the first conductive terminals protruding into the first mating cavity; a terminal stabilizer is movable in a front-rear direction within the first insulating housing; the terminal stabilizer has a plurality of terminal exposure holes to expose the mating ends of the first conductive terminals; the mating side of the terminal stabilizer has at least one pair of elastic locking structures, with an insertion space between the pair of elastic locking structures, each elastic locking structure including at least one first locking claw extending away from the mating direction; when the first electrical connector and the second electrical connector are mated, the guide head of the second electrical connector is inserted into the insertion space between one pair of elastic locking structures of the first electrical connector, and the first conductive terminal and the second conductive terminal are electrically connected accordingly.
