Abstract

This disclosure provides a polymer and a coating composition. The polymer has a first repeating unit and a second repeating unit, wherein the first repeating unit has the structure shown in formula (I), and the second repeating unit has the structure shown in formula (II). Formula (I) and Formula (II) are provided, wherein R1 can be C1-C6 alkyl, C1-C6 fluoroalkyl, or C4-C8 cycloalkyl; R2 can be hydrogen or methyl; and A-group C2-C6 alkylene.

Claims

1. A polymer having a first repeating unit and a second repeating unit, wherein the first repeating unit has the structure shown in formula (I), and the second repeating unit has the structure shown in formula (II), wherein R1 may be C1-C6 alkyl, C1-C6 fluoroalkyl group, or C4-C8 cycloalkyl group; R2 may be hydrogen or methyl; and A-group C2-C6 alkylene group.

2. The polymer as claimed in claim 1, wherein the first repeating unit is , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , or.

3. The polymer as claimed in claim 1, wherein the second repeating unit is , , , , , , or , wherein R2 is hydrogen or methyl.

4. A coating composition comprising: 100 parts by weight of a resin; and 0.5 to 5 parts by weight of a thermal acid generator, wherein the thermal acid generator is a polymer as described in any one of claims 1-3.

5. The coating composition as claimed in claim 4, wherein the polymer has a weight-average molecular weight (Mw) between 700 g / mol and 50,000 g / mol.

6. The coating composition as claimed in claim 5, wherein the polymer has a weight-average molecular weight (Mw) between 700 g / mol and 40,000 g / mol.

The coating composition as claimed in claim 4, wherein the resin is a polyolefin resin, epoxy resin, phenol resin, novolac resin, polystyrene resin, styrene-butadiene copolymer resin, styrene resin, acrylate resin, styrene-acrylate copolymer resin, polyphenylene ether resin, or a combination thereof.

8. The coating composition as claimed in claim 4 further comprises: 1 to 40 parts by weight of a crosslinking agent.

The coating composition as claimed in claim 8, wherein the crosslinking agent is a melamine compound, guanamine compound, biuret compound, urea compound, phenolic compound, or a combination thereof having at least two functional groups, wherein the functional group is a hydroxyalkyl group, an alkoxyalkyl group, or a combination thereof.

10. The coating composition as claimed in claim 4 further comprises: 50 to 1,000 parts by weight of a solvent.
