Infusion assembly

Abstract

This invention describes an immersion assembly (1) for forming a resin immersion joint between two hollow, elongated precast sections (21, 22), comprising an external vacuum configuration including an external vacuum bag (11) adapted to attach to the outer surface of the precast sections (21, 22); an internal vacuum configuration including an internal vacuum bag (12) adapted to attach to the inner surface of the precast sections (21, 22); and an overpressure configuration including a pressurized air supply (15) and one or more inflatable bags (14, 141, 142) configured to apply an overpressure (P over) to the internal vacuum bag (12) during a resin immersion process. The invention further describes a method for connecting a plurality of precast sections (21, 22) of a wind turbine rotor blade using such an immersion assembly (1).
