AI Technical Summary
The straddle-type vehicle design in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2007-216963 faces challenges in properly positioning the air cleaner due to the large crankcase, which limits the available space above the crankcase, below the seat, and in front of the storage box, making it difficult to install a larger air cleaner.
The vehicle design positions the cylinder head to overlap with the seat when viewed from above, allowing the air cleaner to be placed above the cylinder head, below the seat, and in front of the storage box, creating more space for installation, with the intake pipe extending from the cylinder head to the air cleaner, and the intake pipe being arranged above the cylinder head and below the air cleaner.
This configuration facilitates easier installation and connection of the air cleaner and intake pipe, providing a larger space for the air cleaner and reducing the overall size of the throttle valve housing, air cleaner, and intake pipe, while ensuring the intake port draws in cooler air, minimizing heat exposure.

[0003] [Problems to be solved by the invention] In the straddle-type vehicle disclosed in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2007-216963, the air cleaner is located above the crankcase, below the seat, and in front of the storage box. The crankcase is relatively large. For example, it is larger than the cylinder block and cylinder head. Consequently, the space above the crankcase, below the seat, and in front of the storage box is relatively small. Consequently, it can sometimes be difficult to properly position the air cleaner. For example, it can sometimes be difficult to make the air cleaner larger.
[0004] The present invention has been completed in view of this situation, and its object is to provide a straddle-type vehicle that allows an air cleaner to be properly installed. [Technical means to solve the problem]
[0005] In order to achieve the above-mentioned purpose, the present invention adopts the following structure. That is, the present invention is a straddle-type vehicle comprising: body frame; An engine fixed to the vehicle body frame; Intake pipe; An air cleaner connected to the intake pipe; A seat portion, which is disposed above the engine; and A storage box is disposed below the seat; and The engine has a cylinder head connected to the intake pipe. When the straddle-type vehicle is viewed from above, at least a portion of the cylinder head overlaps with the seat portion. The air cleaner is arranged above the cylinder head, below the seat portion and in front of the storage box.
[0006] A straddle-type vehicle includes a vehicle frame, an engine, an intake duct, an air cleaner, a seat, and a storage box. The engine is fixed to the vehicle frame. The air cleaner is connected to the intake duct. The seat is positioned above the engine. The storage box is positioned below the seat. The engine includes a cylinder head. The cylinder head is connected to the intake duct.
[0007] When viewed from above, the straddle-type vehicle shows at least a portion of the cylinder head overlapping the seat. The air cleaner is located above the cylinder head, below the seat, and in front of the storage box. The cylinder head is relatively small. Therefore, the space above the cylinder head, below the seat, and in front of the storage box is relatively large, making it easier to conveniently position the air cleaner.
[0008] In summary, this straddle-type vehicle allows for the proper installation of an air cleaner.
[0009] Among the above-mentioned straddle-type vehicles, preferably When the straddle-type vehicle is viewed from above, the entire cylinder head overlaps with the seat portion. As a result, there is more space above the cylinder head, below the seat, and in front of the storage box, making it easier to install the air cleaner.
[0010] Among the above-mentioned straddle-type vehicles, preferably The engine is disposed as a whole at a position farther rearward than the front end of the seat. As a result, there is more space above the cylinder head, below the seat, and in front of the storage box, making it easier to install the air cleaner.
[0011] Among the above-mentioned straddle-type vehicles, preferably When the straddle-type vehicle is viewed from above, the air cleaner overlaps with at least a portion of the cylinder head. Therefore, it is easy to arrange the air cleaner above the cylinder head.
[0012] Among the above-mentioned straddle-type vehicles, preferably The air cleaner has a portion located forward of the entire cylinder head. This makes it easier to install air cleaners locally.
[0013] Among the above-mentioned straddle-type vehicles, preferably When the straddle-type vehicle is viewed from above, at least a portion of the air cleaner overlaps with the seat. Therefore, it is easy to arrange the air cleaner below the seat.
[0014] Among the above-mentioned straddle-type vehicles, preferably When the straddle-type vehicle is viewed from the front, at least a portion of the air cleaner overlaps with the storage box. Therefore, it is easy to dispose the air cleaner in front of the storage box.
[0015] Among the above-mentioned straddle-type vehicles, preferably The air cleaner has a portion located forward of the entire engine. This makes it easier to install air cleaners locally.
[0016] Among the above-mentioned straddle-type vehicles, preferably The air cleaner has a portion located forward of the entire intake duct. This makes it easier to install air cleaners locally.
[0017] Among the above-mentioned straddle-type vehicles, preferably The intake pipe extends upward from the cylinder head. As mentioned above, the air cleaner is arranged above the cylinder head. Therefore, it is easy to connect the intake pipe to the air cleaner.
[0018] Among the above-mentioned straddle-type vehicles, preferably The intake pipe is arranged above the cylinder head, below the air cleaner and in front of the storage box. Therefore, it is easy to connect the intake pipe to the cylinder head. Thereby, it is easy to connect the intake pipe to the air cleaner.
[0019] Among the above-mentioned straddle-type vehicles, preferably When the straddle-type vehicle is viewed from above, at least a portion of the intake pipe overlaps with the cylinder head. Therefore, it is easy to arrange the intake pipe above the cylinder head. Thus, it is easier to connect the intake pipe to the cylinder head.
[0020] Among the above-mentioned straddle-type vehicles, preferably When the straddle-type vehicle is viewed from above, at least a portion of the air intake pipe overlaps with the air cleaner. Therefore, it is easy to dispose the air intake pipe below the air cleaner. Thus, it is easier to connect the air intake pipe to the air cleaner.
[0021] Among the above-mentioned straddle-type vehicles, preferably When the straddle-type vehicle is viewed from the front, at least a portion of the air intake pipe overlaps with the storage box. Therefore, it is easy to arrange the air intake pipe in front of the storage box.
[0022] Among the above-mentioned straddle-type vehicles, preferably The air intake pipe is arranged below the seat portion. Therefore, it is easy to connect the intake pipe to the air cleaner.
[0023] Among the above-mentioned straddle-type vehicles, preferably When the straddle-type vehicle is viewed from above, at least a portion of the air intake pipe overlaps with the seat portion. Therefore, it is easy to arrange the air intake pipe below the seat portion, thereby making it easier to connect the air intake pipe to the air cleaner.
[0024] Among the above-mentioned straddle-type vehicles, preferably The above-mentioned intake pipe has: throttle valve housing; a first pipe extending from the cylinder head toward the throttle valve housing; and a second pipe extending from the throttle valve housing toward the air cleaner; and The throttle valve housing is arranged above the cylinder head and below the air cleaner. When the straddle-type vehicle is viewed from above, the throttle valve housing overlaps with the cylinder head. When the straddle-type vehicle is viewed from above, the throttle valve housing overlaps with the air cleaner. The intake pipe includes a throttle housing, a first pipe, and a second pipe. The first pipe extends from the engine to the throttle housing. This facilitates connecting the intake pipe to the cylinder head. The throttle housing is located above the cylinder head. When viewed from above, the throttle housing and the cylinder head overlap. This facilitates extending the first pipe from the cylinder head to the throttle housing. The second pipe extends from the throttle housing to the air cleaner. This facilitates connecting the intake pipe to the air cleaner. The throttle housing is located below the air cleaner. When viewed from above, the throttle housing and the air cleaner overlap. This facilitates extending the second pipe from the throttle housing to the air cleaner.
[0025] Among the above-mentioned straddle-type vehicles, preferably The second pipe passes through the bottom of the air cleaner, and The second tube has: an outer portion, which is located outside the air cleaner; and An inner portion, which is located within the air cleaner; and The inner portion is longer than the outer portion. The second pipe extends through the bottom of the air cleaner. The second pipe has an outer portion and an inner portion. The outer portion is the portion of the second pipe located outside the air cleaner. The inner portion is the portion of the second pipe located inside the air cleaner. The inner portion is longer than the outer portion. Therefore, the second pipe is not too short. In other words, the second pipe can be easily positioned to an appropriate length. On the other hand, the outer portion is shorter than the inner portion. Therefore, the air cleaner is positioned close to the throttle valve housing. This facilitates miniaturization of the throttle valve housing, the second pipe, and the air cleaner as a whole. For example, the overall length of the throttle valve housing, the second pipe, and the air cleaner can be easily reduced in the vertical direction of a straddle-type vehicle. In short, the second pipe has an appropriate length, and the throttle valve housing, the second pipe, and the air cleaner are compact as a whole.
[0026] Among the above-mentioned straddle-type vehicles, preferably The inner portion is located in the air cleaner and is bent forward. Therefore, it is easy to make the inner part longer than the outer part.
[0027] Among the above-mentioned straddle-type vehicles, preferably The second pipe passes through the rear portion of the bottom of the air cleaner. Therefore, it is easy to place the inner portion in the air cleaner and bend it forward. This makes it easier to make the inner portion longer than the outer portion.
[0028] Among the above-mentioned straddle-type vehicles, preferably The first pipe extends upward and rearward from the cylinder head, and The throttle valve housing extends upward from the first tube. The outer portion extends upward from the throttle valve housing. The first pipe extends upward and rearward from the cylinder head. This causes the throttle housing and outer portion to displace rearward. The throttle housing extends upward from the first pipe. The outer portion extends upward from the throttle housing. This allows the second pipe to easily penetrate the rear portion of the bottom of the air cleaner.
[0029] Among the above-mentioned straddle-type vehicles, preferably The air cleaner has an air intake port for sucking in air, and The air intake port is arranged at a position forward of the cylinder head. Therefore, the air heated by the engine is less likely to reach the intake port. Consequently, the intake port is less likely to draw in the heated air. As a result, the temperature of the air drawn into the intake port is relatively low. In other words, the temperature of the air introduced into the air cleaner through the intake port is relatively low.
[0030] Among the above-mentioned straddle-type vehicles, preferably The air intake is located at the front of the air cleaner. The air intake port inhales the air in front of the air cleaner. The intake port is located in front of the air cleaner. Therefore, it is easy to locate the intake port forward of the cylinder head. The intake port draws in air from the area in front of the air cleaner. Here, air heated by the engine is less likely to reach the area in front of the air cleaner. Consequently, the intake port is less likely to draw in air heated by the engine. As a result, the intake port tends to draw in relatively cooler air. In other words, the intake port tends to draw relatively cooler air into the air cleaner.
[0031] Among the above-mentioned straddle-type vehicles, preferably The straddle-type vehicle further comprises a fuel tank disposed in front of the air cleaner, and When the straddle-type vehicle is viewed from the front, the air intake port overlaps with the fuel tank. Therefore, the fuel tank can prevent moisture and dust from entering the air intake port, thereby making it easier for the air intake port to inhale clean air.
[0032] Among the above-mentioned straddle-type vehicles, preferably The above engine is a single-cylinder engine. Therefore, the intake pipe can be easily formed into a simple structure.
[0033] Among the above-mentioned straddle-type vehicles, preferably The engine includes a crankcase disposed behind the cylinder head. As a result, the cylinder head is placed at essentially the same height as the crankcase. This places the cylinder head relatively low, creating more space above the cylinder head, below the seat, and in front of the storage compartment. This makes it easier to install the air cleaner.
[0034] Among the above-mentioned straddle-type vehicles, preferably The cylinder head is smaller than the crankcase. As a result, there is more space above the cylinder head, below the seat, and in front of the storage box, making it easier to install the air cleaner.
[0035] Among the above-mentioned straddle-type vehicles, preferably The engine comprises a cylinder block disposed behind the cylinder head, and The cylinder block is formed with a cylinder bore. As a result, the cylinder head is placed at essentially the same height as the cylinder block. This allows for a relatively low placement of the cylinder head. This creates more space above the cylinder head, below the seat, and in front of the storage box. This makes it easier to install the air cleaner. Simple diagram description

The throttle valve 52 has, for example, a circular plate shape.
[0098] The throttle device 51 includes a valve shaft 53 . The valve shaft 53 supports the throttle valve 52 . The valve shaft 53 is connected to the throttle valve 52 . The throttle valve 52 is fixed to the valve shaft 53 . The throttle valve 52 rotates integrally with the valve shaft 53 . The throttle valve 52 rotates around the valve shaft 53 .
[0099] The throttle device 51 includes a throttle housing 54 . The throttle housing 54 forms a section of the intake pipe 41 . The throttle housing 54 has a generally cylindrical shape. Air flows through the throttle housing 54 . The throttle housing 54 houses the throttle valve 52 . The throttle housing 54 supports the valve shaft 53 .
[0100] The throttle valve 52 is disposed within a throttle valve housing 54. The throttle valve 52 is rotatable relative to the throttle valve housing 54. The valve shaft 53 is also rotatable relative to the throttle valve housing 54. When the throttle valve 52 rotates relative to the throttle valve housing 54, the throttle valve 52 opens or closes the throttle valve housing 54, thereby adjusting the amount of air flowing through the throttle valve housing 54.
[0101] The throttle device 51 includes a gear box 55. The gear box 55 is connected to the throttle valve 52. The gear box 55 is connected to the throttle valve 52 via a valve shaft 53.

The gear box 55 transmits the power of the motor 58 to the throttle valve 52. The motor 58 drives the throttle valve 52 via the gear box 55. The motor 58 opens or closes the throttle valve 52 via the gear box 55.
[0103] The configuration of the gear box 55 and the motor 58 is exemplified.
[0104] 6 . Gear box 55 includes a gear mechanism 56. Gear mechanism 56 is connected to throttle valve 52. Gear mechanism 56 is connected to throttle valve 52 via valve shaft 53. Gear mechanism 56 is connected to motor 58. Motor 58 is connected to throttle valve 52 via gear mechanism 56.

The first gear 56a rotates integrally with the output shaft 58b. The first gear 56a rotates around the output shaft 58b. The second gear 56b and the third gear 56c are fixed to each other. For example, the second gear 56b and the third gear 56c are integrally formed. The second gear 56b and the third gear 56c are supported on the intermediate shaft 56e. The third gear 56c rotates integrally with the second gear 56b. The second gear 56b and the third gear 56c rotate around the intermediate shaft 56e. [0696] The through hole 78 is disposed to the right of the first end 64. At least a portion of the through hole 78 is disposed to the right of the entire first end 64. For example, the through hole 78 is disposed to the right of the entire first end 64.
[0697] Through-hole 78 is positioned rearward of second end 65 of fuel pipe 63. At least a portion of through-hole 78 is positioned rearward of the entire second end 65. For example, through-hole 78 is positioned entirely rearward of the entire second end 65. When viewed from above, through-hole 78 and second end 65 do not overlap.

When the vehicle is viewed from the front, the air cleaner 71 overlaps with the fuel tank 69. When the vehicle is viewed from the front, a portion of the air cleaner 71 overlaps with the fuel tank 69.
[0701] When the vehicle is viewed from the front, the air cleaner box 72 overlaps with the fuel tank 69. When the vehicle is viewed from the front, a portion of the air cleaner box 72 overlaps with the fuel tank 69.
[0702] When the vehicle is viewed from the front, the upper portion 72a overlaps with the fuel tank 69. When the vehicle is viewed from the front, a portion of the upper portion 72a overlaps with the fuel tank 69.
[0703] When the vehicle is viewed from the front, the lower portion 72b overlaps with the fuel tank 69. When the vehicle is viewed from the front, a portion of the lower portion 72b overlaps with the fuel tank 69.
[0704] When the vehicle is viewed from the front, the air intake port 76 overlaps with the fuel tank 69. For example, when the vehicle is viewed from the front, the entire air intake port 76 overlaps with the fuel tank 69.
[0705] 10. Effects of implementation methods The effects of the embodiment will be described.
[0706] The straddle-type vehicle 1 includes a vehicle frame 30, an engine 10, an intake duct 41, an air cleaner 71, a seat 3, and a storage box 25. The engine 10 is fixed to the vehicle frame 30. The air cleaner 71 is connected to the intake duct 41. The seat 3 is positioned above the engine 10. The storage box 25 is positioned below the seat 3. The engine 10 includes a cylinder head 14. The cylinder head 14 is connected to the intake duct 41.
[0707] When viewed from above, at least a portion of the cylinder head 14 overlaps the seat 3. The air cleaner 71 is located above the cylinder head 14, below the seat 3, and in front of the storage box 25. Here, the cylinder head 14 is relatively small. Therefore, the space above the cylinder head 14, below the seat 3, and in front of the storage box 25 is relatively large. This makes it easier to appropriately position the air cleaner 71. For example, the air cleaner 71 can be made larger.
[0708] As described above, the straddle-type vehicle 1 allows the air cleaner 71 to be appropriately provided.
[0709] When viewing the vehicle from above, the entire cylinder head 14 overlaps the seat 3. Therefore, there is more space above the cylinder head 14, below the seat 3, and in front of the storage box 25. This makes it easier to install the air cleaner 71.
[0710] The engine 10 is positioned entirely behind the front end 3a of the seat 3. Therefore, there is more space above the cylinder head 14, below the seat 3, and in front of the storage box 25. This makes it easier to conveniently install the air cleaner 71.
[0711] When the vehicle is viewed from above, the air cleaner 71 overlaps at least a portion of the cylinder head 14. Therefore, it is easy to arrange the air cleaner 71 above the cylinder head 14.
[0712] The air cleaner 71 has a portion located forward of the entire cylinder head 14. This makes it easier to conveniently install the air cleaner 71.
[0713] When the vehicle is viewed from above, at least a portion of the air cleaner 71 overlaps with the seat 3. Therefore, the air cleaner 71 can be easily arranged below the seat 3.
[0714] When the vehicle is viewed from above, the entire air cleaner 71 overlaps with the seat 3. Therefore, the air cleaner 71 can be easily arranged below the seat 3.
[0715] When the vehicle is viewed from the front, at least a portion of the air cleaner 71 overlaps with the storage box 25. Therefore, it is easy to arrange the air cleaner 71 in front of the storage box 25.
[0716] The air cleaner 71 has a portion located at a position forward of the entire engine 10. This makes it easier to conveniently install the air cleaner 71.
[0717] The air cleaner 71 has a portion located forward of the entire intake pipe 41. This makes it easier to conveniently install the air cleaner 71.
[0718] The intake pipe 41 extends upward from the cylinder head 14. As described above, the air cleaner 71 is arranged above the cylinder head 14. Therefore, it is easy to connect the intake pipe 41 to the air cleaner 71.
[0719] The intake pipe 41 is arranged above the cylinder head 14, below the air cleaner 71 and in front of the storage box 25. Therefore, it is easy to connect the intake pipe 41 to the cylinder head 14. Thereby, it is easy to connect the intake pipe 41 to the air cleaner 71.
[0720] When the vehicle is viewed from above, at least a portion of the intake pipe 41 overlaps with the cylinder head 14. Therefore, the intake pipe 41 can be easily arranged above the cylinder head 14. This makes it easier to connect the intake pipe 41 to the cylinder head 14.
[0721] When the vehicle is viewed from above, at least a portion of the intake duct 41 overlaps with the air cleaner 71. Therefore, the intake duct 41 can be easily arranged below the air cleaner 71. This makes it easier to connect the intake duct 41 to the air cleaner 71.
[0722] When the vehicle is viewed from the front, at least a portion of the air intake duct 41 overlaps with the storage box 25. Therefore, it is easy to arrange the air intake duct 41 in front of the storage box 25.
[0723] The air intake pipe 41 is arranged below the seat 3. Therefore, it is easy to connect the air intake pipe 41 to the air cleaner 71.
[0724] When the vehicle is viewed from above, at least a portion of the intake duct 41 overlaps the seat 3. Therefore, the intake duct 41 can be easily arranged below the seat 3. This makes it easier to connect the intake duct 41 to the air cleaner 71.
[0725] The intake pipe 41 includes a throttle housing 54 and a first pipe 42. The first pipe 42 extends from the engine 10 to the throttle housing 54. Therefore, it is easy to connect the intake pipe 41 to the cylinder head 14.
[0726] The first pipe 42 extends from the cylinder head 14 to the throttle housing 54. Therefore, it is easy to connect the intake pipe 41 to the cylinder head 14.
[0727] The throttle housing 54 is arranged above the cylinder head 14. When the vehicle is viewed from above, the throttle housing 54 overlaps with the cylinder head 14. Therefore, the first pipe 42 can easily extend from the cylinder head 14 to the throttle housing 54.
[0728] The intake pipe 41 includes the second pipe 43. The second pipe 43 extends from the throttle valve housing 54 to the air cleaner 71. Therefore, it is easy to connect the intake pipe 41 to the air cleaner 71.
[0729] The throttle housing 54 is arranged below the air cleaner 71. When the vehicle is viewed from above, the throttle housing 54 and the air cleaner 71 overlap. Therefore, the second pipe 43 can easily extend from the throttle housing 54 to the air cleaner 71.
[0730] The second tube 43 passes through the bottom 73 of the air cleaner 71. The second tube 43 includes an outer portion 44 and an inner portion 45. The outer portion 44 is the portion of the second tube 43 located outside the air cleaner 71. The inner portion 45 is the portion of the second tube 43 located inside the air cleaner 71. The inner portion 45 is longer than the outer portion 44. Therefore, the second tube 43 is not too short. In other words, the second tube 43 is easily of an appropriate length. On the other hand, the outer portion 44 is shorter than the inner portion 45. Therefore, the air cleaner 71 is positioned close to the throttle valve housing 54. This facilitates the overall miniaturization of the throttle valve housing 54, the second tube 43, and the air cleaner 71. For example, the overall length of the throttle valve housing 54, the second tube 43, and the air cleaner 71 in the vertical direction Z can be easily reduced. In short, the second tube 43 has an appropriate length, and the throttle valve housing 54, the second tube 43, and the air cleaner 71 are compact as a whole.
[0731] As described above, the second pipe 43 can be easily provided with an appropriate length. Therefore, for example, the output of the engine 10 can be easily increased. Thus, the torque characteristics of the engine 10 can be easily improved.
[0732] The inner portion 45 is bent forward in the air cleaner 71. Therefore, it is easy to make the inner portion 45 longer than the outer portion 44.
[0733] The second tube 43 passes through the rear portion 73b of the bottom 73 of the air cleaner 71. Therefore, it is easy to bend the inner portion 45 forward inside the air cleaner 71. This makes it easier to make the inner portion 45 longer than the outer portion 44.
[0734] The first pipe 42 extends upward and rearward from the cylinder head 14. Consequently, the first pipe 42 displaces the throttle housing 54 and the outer portion 44 rearward. For example, the throttle housing 54 and the outer portion 44 are positioned rearward of the first end 41a of the intake pipe 41. Furthermore, the throttle housing 54 extends upward from the first pipe 42. The outer portion 44 extends upward from the throttle housing 54. Consequently, the second pipe 43 easily passes through the rear portion 73b of the bottom 73 of the air cleaner 71.
[0735] The air cleaner 71 has an intake port 76 for drawing in air. The intake port 76 is located forward of the cylinder head 14. Therefore, air heated by the engine 10 is less likely to reach the intake port 76. Consequently, the intake port 76 is less likely to draw in air heated by the engine 10. As a result, the temperature of the air drawn into the intake port 76 is relatively low. In other words, the temperature of the air introduced into the air cleaner 71 through the intake port 76 is relatively low.
[0736] The air intake port 76 is arranged in front of the air cleaner 71. Therefore, it is easy to arrange the air intake port 76 at a position closer to the front than the cylinder head 14.
[0737] The air intake 76 draws in air from the area in front of the air cleaner 71. Here, air heated by the engine 10 is less likely to reach the area in front of the air cleaner 71. Consequently, the air intake 76 is less likely to draw in air heated by the engine 10. As a result, the air intake 76 is more likely to draw in relatively cooler air. In other words, the air intake 76 is more likely to introduce relatively cooler air into the air cleaner 71.
[0738] The straddle-type vehicle 1 includes a fuel tank 69. The fuel tank 69 is positioned forward of the air cleaner 71. When viewed from the front of the vehicle, the air intake 76 and the fuel tank 69 overlap. Therefore, the fuel tank 69 prevents moisture and dust from entering the air intake 76. This allows the air intake 76 to easily draw in clean air. Despite its simple structure, the air intake 76 easily draws in clean air.
[0739] The engine 10 is a single-cylinder engine. Therefore, it is easy to form the intake pipe 41 into a simple structure.
[0740] The engine 10 includes a crankcase 11. The crankcase 11 is located behind the cylinder head 14. Therefore, the cylinder head 14 is positioned substantially at the same height as the crankcase 11. Consequently, the cylinder head 14 is positioned relatively low. Consequently, there is more space above the cylinder head 14, below the seat 3, and in front of the storage box 25. This makes it easier to install the air cleaner 71.
[0741] The cylinder head 14 is smaller than the crankcase 11. Therefore, there is more space above the cylinder head 14, below the seat 3, and in front of the storage box 25. This makes it easier to install the air cleaner 71.
[0742] The engine 10 includes a cylinder block 13. Cylinder bores 16 are formed in the cylinder block 13. The cylinder block 13 is located behind the cylinder head 14. Therefore, the cylinder head 14 is positioned substantially at the same height as the cylinder block 13. Consequently, the cylinder head 14 is positioned relatively low. Consequently, there is more space above the cylinder head 14, below the seat 3, and in front of the storage box 25. This makes it easier to install the air cleaner 71.
[0743] The straddle-type vehicle 1 includes an engine 10, an intake pipe 41, a throttle valve 52, a gearbox 55, a motor 58, a fuel injection device 61, and a fuel pipe 63. The intake pipe 41 is connected to the engine 10. The throttle valve 52 is disposed within the intake pipe 41. The gearbox 55 is connected to the throttle valve 52. The motor 58 is connected to the gearbox 55. The motor 58 drives the throttle valve 52 via the gearbox 55. The fuel injection device 61 is mounted on the downstream portion of the intake pipe 41. Specifically, the fuel injection device 61 is mounted on the portion of the intake pipe 41 from the throttle valve 52 to the engine 10. The fuel pipe 63 has a first end 64. The first end 64 is connected to the fuel injection device 61.
[0744] When viewing the vehicle from the side, the gear box 55 overlaps the first end 64. As described above, the gear box 55 is connected to the throttle valve 52. The first end 64 is connected to the fuel injection device 61. This makes it easier to position the throttle valve 52 close to the fuel injection device 61. In other words, the portion of the intake pipe 41 from the throttle valve 52 to the fuel injection device 61 can be shortened. The portion of the intake pipe 41 from the throttle valve 52 to the fuel injection device 61 is included in the downstream portion. This makes it easier to shorten the downstream portion.
[0745] The right area AR is located to the right of the fuel injection device 61. The left area AL is located to the left of the fuel injection device 61. The gear box 55 is located in one of the right area AR and the left area AL. The first end 64 is located in the other of the right area AR and the left area AL. Specifically, the gear box 55 is located in the right area AR, and the first end 64 is located in the left area AL. Therefore, the gear box 55 and the first end 64 do not interfere with each other. This makes it easier to prevent interference between the gear box 55 and the fuel pipe 63.
[0746] In short, the straddle-type vehicle 1 can easily shorten the downstream portion of the intake pipe 41. Furthermore, the straddle-type vehicle 1 can easily prevent interference between the gear box 55 and the fuel pipe 63.
[0747] As described above, in the straddle-type vehicle 1, the downstream portion of the intake pipe 41 is shorter. Consequently, the downstream portion has a smaller volume. More specifically, the downstream portion provides an air flow path with a smaller volume. This makes it easier, for example, to quickly change the intake air volume of the engine 10 via the throttle valve 52. This also reduces the time delay between changes in the opening of the throttle valve 52 and changes in the intake air volume of the engine 10.
[0748] In the straddle-type vehicle 1, the downstream portion of the intake pipe 41 is shorter. Consequently, the downstream portion has a smaller volume. This reduces the likelihood of gas flowing back from the engine 10 to the downstream portion, for example. Unburned gas or exhaust gas also rarely flows back from the combustion chamber to the downstream portion. Consequently, the fuel efficiency of the engine 10 is less likely to decrease. Furthermore, the exhaust gas from the engine 10 is more easily purified.
[0749] The fuel pipe 63 is entirely disposed in the left area AL. Therefore, interference between the gear box 55 and the fuel pipe 63 can be more easily prevented.
[0750] The gear box 55 is entirely disposed in the right area AR. Therefore, it is easier to prevent interference between the gear box 55 and the fuel pipe 63.
[0751] When the vehicle is viewed from the side, the gear box 55 overlaps the fuel injection device 61. Therefore, it is easier to arrange the throttle valve 52 closer to the fuel injection device 61. This makes it easier to shorten the downstream portion of the intake pipe 41.
[0752] The intake pipe 41 extends upward from the engine 10. The fuel injection device 61 is located above the engine 10. The throttle valve 52 is located above the fuel injection device 61. Therefore, the fuel injection device 61 can be easily installed at the downstream portion of the intake pipe 41.
[0753] The throttle valve 52 is arranged at a position that is as high as the gear box 55. Therefore, it is easier to arrange the throttle valve 52 near the position of the fuel injection device 61.
[0754] The fuel injection device 61 extends forward and upward from the intake pipe 41. The gear box 55 extends forward from the throttle valve 52. Therefore, the gear box 55 and the first end 64 can be easily overlapped when the vehicle is viewed from the side.
[0755] The first end 64 of the fuel pipe 63 extends forward from the fuel injection device 61. Therefore, it is easier to overlap the gear box 55 and the first end 64 when the vehicle is viewed from the side.
[0756] The intake pipe 41 includes a throttle housing 54. The throttle housing 54 houses the throttle valve 52. Therefore, the throttle valve 52 can be easily installed in the intake pipe 41. The intake pipe 41 includes a first pipe 42. The first pipe 42 extends from the engine 10 to the throttle housing 54. Therefore, the first pipe 42 is included in the downstream portion. The fuel injection device 61 is mounted on the first pipe 42. Therefore, the fuel injection device 61 can be easily installed in the downstream portion.
[0757] The first pipe 42 extends upward and rearward from the engine 10. Therefore, it is easy to lower the height position of the throttle housing 54. In other words, it is easy to shorten the distance in the vertical direction Z between the engine 10 and the throttle housing 54.
[0758] The first pipe 42 extends upward and rearward from the engine 10. Therefore, the fuel injection device 61 can be easily extended forward and upward from the first pipe 42.
[0759] The throttle housing 54 extends upward from the first pipe 42. Therefore, it is easier to overlap the gear box 55 and the first end 64 when the vehicle is viewed from the side.
[0760] The throttle valve housing 54 extends upward from the first pipe 42. Therefore, the gear box 55 can be easily extended forward from the throttle valve 52.
[0761] The engine 10 has an intake passage 17 connected to a first pipe 42. The first pipe 42 extends upward and rearward from the intake passage 17. The intake passage 17 extends downward and rearward from the first pipe 42. Therefore, air flows smoothly from the first pipe 42 to the intake passage 17.
[0762] The motor 58 is arranged in front of the throttle valve 52. Therefore, it is easy to arrange the motor 58 near the throttle valve 52. Thereby, the motor 58 can easily drive the throttle valve 52.
[0763] The motor 58 is arranged at a position above the engine 10. Therefore, the motor 58 and the engine 10 do not interfere with each other.
[0764] The motor 58 is arranged above the first end 64 of the fuel pipe 63. Therefore, the motor 58 and the first end 64 do not interfere with each other.
[0765] The motor 58 is arranged above the fuel injection device 61. Therefore, the motor 58 and the fuel injection device 61 do not interfere with each other.
[0766] When viewing the vehicle from above, the motor 58 and the fuel injection device 61 overlap. This makes it easier to position the motor 58 near the fuel injection device 61. As described above, the motor 58 is connected to the gearbox 55. The fuel injection device 61 is connected to the first end 64. This makes it easier to position the gearbox 55 near the first end 64. This makes it easier to position the gearbox 55 near the first end 64 when viewing the vehicle from the side.
[0767] The straddle-type vehicle 1 includes a seat 3 and a storage box 25. The storage box 25 is arranged below the seat 3. The air intake duct 41 is arranged in front of the storage box 25. Therefore, the air intake duct 41 and the storage box 25 do not interfere with each other.
[0768] The fuel injection device 61 extends forward and upward from the intake pipe 41. The intake pipe 41 is arranged in front of the storage box 25. Therefore, the fuel injection device 61 is arranged in front of the storage box 25. As a result, the fuel injection device 61 and the storage box 25 do not interfere with each other.
[0769] The gear box 55 extends forward from the throttle valve 52. The throttle valve 52 is disposed within the intake pipe 41. The intake pipe 41 is located in front of the storage box 25. Therefore, the gear box 55 is located in front of the storage box 25. This prevents the gear box 55 and the storage box 25 from interfering with each other.
[0770] The motor 58 is arranged in front of the storage box 25. Therefore, the motor 58 and the storage box 25 do not interfere with each other.
[0771] The motor 58 is located in front of the throttle valve 52. The throttle valve 52 is located in the intake pipe 41. The intake pipe 41 is located in front of the storage box 25. Therefore, the motor 58 is located in front of the storage box 25. This prevents the motor 58 and the storage box 25 from interfering with each other.
[0772] The air intake pipe 41 is arranged below the seat 3. Therefore, the air intake pipe 41 and the seat 3 do not interfere with each other.
[0773] The motor 58 is disposed below the seat 3. Therefore, the motor 58 and the seat 3 do not interfere with each other.
[0774] The straddle-type vehicle 1 includes an air cleaner 71. The air cleaner 71 is connected to the intake duct 41. The motor 58 is disposed below the air cleaner 71. Therefore, the motor 58 and the air cleaner 71 do not interfere with each other.
