Abstract

This invention provides a variable-speed DC power generation system connected to a DC power grid. The system includes a controller, a power source, a permanent magnet generator, and an electronic power converter. The controller receives a total load power demand from the DC power grid. The power source is connected to the controller and operates at a certain speed. The permanent magnet generator is connected to the power source, and the electronic power converter is connected to both the permanent magnet generator and the controller. The controller senses an output power from the electronic power converter to the DC power grid and compares whether the output power meets the total load power demand, thereby adjusting the speed of the power source.

Claims

1. A variable-speed DC power generation system connected to a DC power grid, the variable-speed DC power generation system comprising: a controller for real-time receiving a total load demand power of the DC power grid measured by a power sensing device; a power source connected to the controller, the power source operating at a certain speed; a permanent magnet generator connected to the power source; and an electronic power converter connected to the permanent magnet generator and the controller, the controller sensing an output power of the electronic power converter output to the DC power grid; wherein... The controller compares in real time whether the output power meets the total load demand and adjusts the speed of the power source accordingly.

2. The variable-speed DC power generation system as claimed in claim 1, wherein the controller is a single-chip microcontroller (MCU), microprocessor (MPU), or programmable logic controller (PLC).

3. The variable-speed DC power generation system as described in claim 1, wherein the power source is an engine.

4. The variable-speed DC power generation system as described in claim 3, wherein the engine is an electronically controlled engine.

5. The variable-speed DC power generation system as claimed in claim 4, wherein the controller changes the rotational speed of the electronically controlled engine with digital or analog signals.

6. The variable-speed DC power generation system as claimed in claim 1, wherein the controller is further connected to at least one input device.

7. The variable-speed DC power generation system as claimed in claim 6, wherein the at least one input device is a mobile phone, a computer, and / or a combination thereof.

8. The variable-speed DC power generation system as claimed in claim 6, wherein the at least one input device includes a human-machine interface.

9. The variable-speed DC power generation system as claimed in claim 1, wherein the controller adjusts the voltage, power, and / or combinations thereof output by the electronic power converter.

10. The variable-speed DC power generation system as claimed in claim 1, wherein the DC grid is further connected to at least one load.
