Abstract

A shock absorption system includes: an upper tube; a lower tube slidably engaged with the upper tube; and an air spring assembly disposed within the lower tube. The air spring assembly includes: an air piston positioned within a cylinder configured to maintain a constant volume of bath oil; an air inlet positioned at a lower end of the cylinder; an extension tube communicating with the air inlet; and an air outlet port positioned on the extension tube above a maximum fill volume of bath oil. The shock absorption system provides improved air spring performance and lubrication in an inverted fork configuration.
