Abstract
Claims
1. A namespace management method for a data storage system, wherein the data storage system includes a storage device, and the namespace management method includes: Associate multiple logical units with the first namespace; After associating the plurality of logical units to the first namespace, first usage information of the first entity unit in the storage device is obtained, wherein the first entity unit is mapped to the first logical unit among the plurality of logical units; based on the first usage information, the first logical unit is reassociated to the second namespace, wherein the second namespace is different from the first namespace.
2. The namespace management method as described in claim 1, wherein the first usage information reflects the wear and tear of the first entity unit.
3. The namespace management method as described in claim 1, wherein the step of changing the association of the first logical unit to the second namespace based on the first usage information includes: In response to the first usage information meeting preset conditions, the first logical unit is changed to be associated with the second namespace.
4. The namespace management method as described in claim 1, wherein the step of changing the association of the first logical unit to the second namespace based on the first usage information is performed before the first entity unit is marked as a bad block.
5. The namespace management method as described in request item 1 further includes: Obtain second usage information of a second entity unit in the storage device, wherein the second entity unit is mapped to a second logical unit in the plurality of logical units, and the second usage information reflects that the wear level of the second entity unit is different from the wear level of the first entity unit; and according to the second usage information, change the association of the second logical unit to a third namespace, wherein the first namespace, the second namespace and the third namespace are all different.
6. A data storage system, comprising: Host system; and storage devices, coupled to the host system, wherein the host system is used to: associate multiple logical units to a first namespace; After associating the plurality of logical units to the first namespace, first usage information of the first entity unit in the storage device is obtained, wherein the first entity unit is mapped to the first logical unit among the plurality of logical units; based on the first usage information, the first logical unit is reassociated to the second namespace, wherein the second namespace is different from the first namespace.
7. The data storage system as claimed in claim 6, wherein the first usage information reflects the wear and tear of the first physical unit.
8. The data storage system as described in claim 6, wherein the operation of changing the association of the first logical unit to the second namespace based on the first usage information includes: In response to the first usage information meeting preset conditions, the first logical unit is changed to be associated with the second namespace.
9. The data storage system as claimed in claim 6, wherein the operation of changing the association of the first logical unit to the second namespace based on the first usage information is performed before the first entity unit is marked as a bad block.
10. The data storage system of claim 6, wherein the host system is further configured to: obtain second usage information of a second entity unit in the storage device, wherein the second entity unit is mapped to a second logical unit among the plurality of logical units, and the second usage information reflects that the wear level of the second entity unit is different from the wear level of the first entity unit; and, based on the second usage information, change the association of the second logical unit to a third namespace, wherein the first namespace, the second namespace, and the third namespace are all different.
