Abstract
Description
Natural blood collection bags Technical Field
[0001] This work relates to medical supplies, particularly a naturally occurring blood collection bag. Prior Technology
[0002] Throughout the surgical procedure, patient safety is always the medical team's top priority. This not only affects the success of the surgery but also the patient's life, health, and postoperative recovery. The entire surgical period, including preoperative preparation, intraoperative procedures, and postoperative care, requires strict adherence to ensure patient safety and prevent accidents. Blood loss monitoring during surgery is a crucial indicator for assessing vital signs. Therefore, this design aims to enable medical staff to more quickly and effectively identify the amount of immediate bleeding in the mother, ensuring patient safety during the procedure.
[0003] Postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) is defined as bleeding exceeding 500 ml after vaginal delivery or 1000 ml after cesarean section, and is the most common cause of obstetric emergencies. The 2019 Maternal Accident Relief Report indicated that antepartum or postpartum hemorrhage accounted for 21.7% of maternal deaths and 71.7% of hysterectomies (Shi, 2019; Chen et al., 2022). Causes of postpartum hemorrhage include uterine atony and coagulation disorders. Failure to treat it promptly can lead to death from massive hemorrhage; therefore, it is crucial to identify signs of postpartum hemorrhage and take appropriate measures as soon as possible (Gonzalez-Brown & Schneider, 2020).
[0004] In modern medicine, the importance of risk management is becoming increasingly prominent, especially in the field of obstetrics. Obstetric risk management refers to the management process of reducing potential risks and improving maternal and infant safety and quality of care during the prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum stages of pregnancy and childbirth through systematic prediction, assessment, and improvement measures (Xu, 2024).
[0005] Risk monitoring is a crucial step in ensuring the effectiveness of implemented risk control measures. Through continuous data collection and analysis, healthcare institutions can continuously monitor the effectiveness of risk management. Regular analysis of obstetric-related clinical data, such as the incidence of maternal complications like postpartum hemorrhage, vaginal lacerations, puerperal fever, and pulmonary embolism, as well as the rate of neonatal abnormalities, is essential. Abnormal incidence rates can be reviewed and analyzed as adverse events, encouraging healthcare personnel to report adverse events or similar events and conduct causal analysis to reduce the recurrence rate of these events. This, in turn, leads to continuous quality improvement; by combining the results of risk monitoring, the quality of healthcare services can be continuously improved to ensure the health and well-being of mothers and newborns (Xu, 2024).
[0006] However, conventional techniques lack real-time information on blood loss during natural childbirth, forcing medical staff to rely on experience for visual estimation or weighing surgical drapes to calculate blood loss. This makes conventional techniques unreliable and time-consuming, making it difficult for medical staff to detect postpartum hemorrhage abnormalities in a timely manner, thus posing a risk to the mother's life. Summary of the Invention
[0007] Therefore, the main purpose of this invention is to provide a natural childbirth blood collection bag that can display the bleeding status of the mother during natural childbirth in real time, so as to provide medical staff with real-time information on the amount of bleeding, thereby reducing the risks caused by information lag.
[0008] Therefore, in order to achieve the above objectives, the main technical feature of the natural blood collection bag provided by this invention is that during the natural birthing process, blood is collected and the collected blood volume information is transmitted to medical personnel in real time through means that can be perceived by human senses, so that medical personnel can take appropriate measures based on the information they have received.
[0009] Furthermore, the naturally produced blood collection bag includes a main body; a blood collection space defined by the main body; an opening located at one end of the main body and connected to the blood collection space; and a blood volume information unit located on the main body to display the quantity, volume, weight, or other information that can convey the amount of blood present in the blood collection space.
[0010] To facilitate the concentration of bleeding in the blood collection space, the inner diameter of the blood collection space can be made to gradually narrow from the location of the opening towards the other end of the body.
[0011] Furthermore, to facilitate the discharge of blood from the blood collection space, the naturally produced blood collection bag may include a collection hole located on the main body and connected to the end with the smaller inner diameter of the blood collection space.
[0012] The collection hole can be defined by a connecting pipe with the space of the hole, and the connecting pipe is fixed to the body at one end of the pipe shaft, while the other end of the pipe shaft is closed, so that the user can control whether the connecting pipe is connected to the outside.
[0013] Furthermore, to facilitate the storage of naturally produced blood collection bags, the main body can be further made to include a first side piece and a second side piece, and a portion of the edge of the first side piece and a portion of the edge of the second side piece can be attached to each other, thereby defining the blood collection space between the first side piece and the second side piece.
[0014] The opening is defined between the other edges of the first side panel and the other edges of the second side panel, which are not attached to each other.
[0015] To ensure the opening state of the opening, the naturally produced blood collection bag may further include a support portion provided on the body at the location corresponding to the opening, for supporting the opening state.
[0016] In addition, the naturally produced blood collection bag may further include a surgical drape, and the main body is attached to the surgical drape.
[0017] Furthermore, in order to enable medical staff to visually ascertain the amount of blood in the blood collection space, the main body part where the blood volume information unit is located can be made to have physical characteristics that allow light to pass through and enter the blood collection space. In this way, the amount of blood present in the blood collection space can be visually seen from the outside of the naturally produced blood collection bag during use.
[0018] To ensure that the blood collection bag can adapt to the surgical environment during natural childbirth, the outer diameter of the bag can be made to gradually narrow from one end where the opening is located to the other end. Simple Explanation of the Diagram
[0019] Figure 1 is a plan view of a preferred embodiment of the present invention. Figure 2 is a three-dimensional schematic diagram of a preferred embodiment of the present invention in use. Figure 3 is a magnified view of a portion of Figure 2. Implementation
[0020] A preferred embodiment of this invention will now be described, with further explanation in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.
[0021] First, please refer to Figures 1, 2 and 3. In a preferred embodiment of this invention, the naturally produced blood collection bag (10) mainly includes a body (20), a blood collection space (30), an opening (40) and a blood volume information unit (50).
[0022] The body (20) is made of a flexible sheet material and includes a first side piece (21) and a second side piece (22). The first side piece (21) and the second side piece (22) are generally wedge-shaped in planar shape and are bonded to each other by their two side edges and the narrow edge of the wedge. At the same time, the first side piece (21) and the second side piece (22) are not bonded to each other at the wide edge of the wedge.
[0023] The blood collection space (30) is defined by the area surrounded by the side edges of the first side piece (21) and the second side piece (22) which are fixed together. The volume of the blood collection space (30) is defined by the flexible nature of the body (20) and the space formed after the first side piece (21) and the second side piece (22) are separated from each other.
[0024] The opening (40) is defined by the unconsolidated portions of the first side plate (21) and the second side plate (22) corresponding to the wide end of the wedge, and is used to connect the blood collection space (30) with the outside of the body (20).
[0025] In this embodiment, the blood volume information unit (50) is present on the body (20) with volume scale, and the end of the body (20) corresponding to the wedge-shaped narrow end is used as the calculation reference. Furthermore, the blood volume information unit (50) can be printed on the first side sheet (21) by printing technology, and by selecting the material of the first side sheet (21), the first side sheet (21) is made transparent, so that medical staff can visually see the blood volume data collected in the blood collection space (30).
[0026] With the above-mentioned components, the natural birth blood collection bag (10) is positioned below the birth canal of the mother and the opening (40) faces the birth canal of the mother. In this way, the bleeding during the birth process can enter the blood collection space (30) through the opening (40) to collect and measure the bleeding.
[0027] Furthermore, to ensure that the natural blood collection bag (10) is well positioned during use, the natural blood collection bag (10) can be further included with a surgical drape (60), and the main body (20) can be fixedly attached to the surgical drape (60) at an appropriate position, thereby positioning the main body (20) on the delivery platform along with the surgical drape (60).
[0028] To ensure that the opening (40) does not become unexpectedly closed or shifted due to the flexible material used in the body (20), the natural blood collection bag (10) may include a support part (70). The support part (70) may be a wire that can undergo plastic deformation and maintain its shape, such as iron wire, and may be provided on the body (20). Specifically, it may be located on the part of the body (20) adjacent to the opening (40) to maintain the opening (40) and prevent the opening (40) from closing or shifting due to the flexible sheet of the body (20) not being properly positioned.
[0029] In addition, to facilitate the post-processing of blood collected by the naturally produced blood collection bag (10), the naturally produced blood collection bag (10) may further include a connecting tube (80). The connecting tube (80) is fixed at one end of the tube shaft to the part of the body (20) corresponding to the wedge-shaped narrow end, while the other end of the tube shaft is closed to provide the user with the function of controlling whether the connecting tube is connected to the outside. A collection hole (81) is defined by the tube space of the connecting tube (80), and the collection hole (81) passes through the first side plate (21) and is connected to the blood collection space (30). In this way, the blood collected in the blood collection space (30) can be moved to the outside of the naturally produced blood collection bag (10) for processing after the production is completed by medical staff. For example, medical staff can open the other end of the tube shaft to connect the blood collection space with the outside for drainage.
[0030] Furthermore, in order to ensure that the naturally produced blood collection bag (10) does not affect the actions of medical staff, the wedge shape of the body (20) not only defines the cone shape of the blood collection space (30), but also defines the outer diameter of the body (20) as gradually narrowing from the opening (40) end to the narrow end of the wedge, so as to adapt to the operating position of relevant medical staff during the production process and avoid causing obstruction to the corresponding medical staff.
[0031] In addition to the embodiments described above, the natural blood collection bag provided by this invention can also replace the second side piece with a surgical cloth in other embodiments, so that the first side piece is directly bonded to the surgical cloth in the same way as the second side piece, and the holding part is only provided on the first side piece, thereby achieving the same effect as the aforementioned embodiments.
[0032] Furthermore, the naturally produced blood collection bags provided in this invention can also be used in other clinical operating environments that generate large amounts of fluid, such as clinical environments that generate large amounts of cleaning fluid or body fluid. They are not limited to the use of naturally produced blood, nor are they limited to blood or operating room environments. Such changes in usage scenarios should be within the scope of protection of this invention.
