Abstract
Description
Pen barrel structure Technical Field
[0001] This work relates to a pen barrel structure, specifically a pen barrel structure made of composite material that combines writing and bookmarking functions and can be magnetically attached to book pages. Prior Technology
[0002] Pens are indispensable items in modern daily life. Whether students are studying or business people are working, it is common to carry pens for writing, taking notes, or signing documents. When reading books or consulting documents, users often need to use bookmarks to mark page numbers so that they can quickly turn to specific chapters later.
[0003] However, existing pens and bookmarks are usually two separate items. Traditional pens (such as ballpoint pens and fountain pens) often use cylindrical barrels made of hard plastic or metal. Their rigid structure and considerable thickness can easily cause the spine to deform, damage the paper, or prevent the book from closing flat, making them extremely inconvenient to carry. Therefore, users must prepare bookmarks separately or store their pens in a pencil case or pocket, which often leads to the frustration of "not being able to find a pen when you want to write" or "not being able to find a bookmark when you want to mark something."
[0004] Although some pens on the market have improved their clip structure so that they can be clipped to book covers, the pen body of such designs is still a three-dimensional cylindrical shape. After being clipped, it protrudes from the book surface and is easily knocked off by external force when stored in a bag, or even damages the book cover due to snagging.
[0005] Furthermore, while existing multi-functional stationery attempts to combine different functions, most designs are complex, resulting in bulky sizes or a lack of aesthetic appeal. Designing a pen barrel structure that is lightweight, flexible enough to flatten and conform to book pages, yet securely held in place through easy operation, and combining aesthetics and practicality, is a pressing issue that the relevant industries urgently need to address. Summary of the Invention
[0006] The main purpose of this invention is to solve the problem that existing pens, being three-dimensional cylindrical, cannot be flatly clipped onto the pages of books, leading to inconvenience in carrying and a tendency to deform the books. At the same time, this invention also aims to address the inconvenience of traditional pens and bookmarks being separate functions, requiring users to prepare them separately and making them prone to loss.
[0007] To achieve the above objectives, this invention provides a pen barrel structure comprising a main body, a chamber, and a fixing unit. The main body is generally a flat, sheet-like structure, comprising a first segment, a second segment, and a flexible portion connecting the first and second segments. Through the flexible portion, the first segment can be folded relative to the second segment, allowing the main body to switch between an unfolded state and a snap-fit state. The chamber is formed inside the main body to accommodate a pen refill. The fixing unit is disposed on the main body to maintain the first and second segments in the snap-fit state.
[0008] In one embodiment, the fixing unit includes a first magnetic element disposed in the first section and a second magnetic element disposed in the second section. When the main body is in the adsorption state, the first magnetic element and the second magnetic element are magnetically attracted and fixed to each other.
[0009] In one embodiment, the main system is made of multiple layers of materials bonded together, including a first cover layer and a second cover layer. The materials of the cover layers are selected from polyurethane (PU) leather, genuine leather or fabric, and the fixing unit is hidden between the multiple layers of materials.
[0010] Through the above structure, this creation offers the following beneficial effects: 1. Lightweight and paper-friendly: Utilizing the softness and flatness of the PU composite layer, this creation significantly reduces the feeling of foreign objects caused by its thickness when held between pages, preventing books from developing dents or deformation due to foreign objects being trapped inside. 2. Dual-function integration: This creation cleverly combines the functions of a writing tool and a bookmark. When unfolded, it can be used for writing; when folded, it transforms into a magnetic bookmark, effectively solving the problem of users forgetting to bring their pens or bookmarks. 3. High adaptability: Due to its leather-like appearance and design that emphasizes a smooth fit with paper, this creation is ideal for use with notebooks, notepads, or diaries. Users can keep it permanently in their personal journals, not only for convenient recording of moods or to-do lists but also as a complement to their overall stationery style, enhancing both taste and convenience. 4. Stable to carry: With its magnetic fixing unit, this product can be securely clipped to a single page or book cover. Compared to traditional pens that rely solely on flexible clips, it is less likely to slip and be lost during movement. Simple Explanation of the Diagram

[0019] To ensure that your review committee can clearly understand the content of this work, please refer to the following explanations and illustrations.
[0020] In this work, direct contact refers to the surfaces of two objects being in direct contact and roughly parallel to each other. Indirect contact refers to the surfaces of two objects being separated by other objects and unable to directly contact each other, but being adjacent to each other and roughly parallel to each other.
[0021] Although the terms "first," "second," "third," etc., may be used herein to describe various elements, components, regions, or parts, these elements, components, regions, and / or parts should not be limited by such terms. These terms are used only to distinguish one element, component, region, or part from another element, component, region, layer, or part. Therefore, the following use of "first..." may be interpreted as "second..." or "third..." without departing from the teachings of this document.
[0022] The term "sheet-like body" as used in this specification refers to an object whose length, width, or diameter is much greater than its thickness, thus giving the object a flat, two-dimensional shape. However, the object still possesses a certain thickness.
[0023] The sheet-like structure in this creation can be formed by laminating multiple layers of materials, such as an outer layer of PU leather and an inner rigid or semi-rigid support layer (such as PC, PP sheet or high-density fiberboard) by hot pressing, so as to balance appearance, structural strength and protection of the stored items.
[0024] The detailed description and technical content of this work are illustrated below. However, the illustrations are for illustrative purposes only and are not intended to limit this work.
[0025] Please refer to Figures 1-2, which illustrate the unfolded and semi-folded states of this creation, respectively. As shown, the main body 10 of the pen's structure is a generally flat, sheet-like structure, and its material can be selected from polyurethane (PU) leather, genuine leather, fabric, or other artificial leather materials. In this embodiment, the main body 10 is composed of multiple layers of composite materials, including a first covering layer 101 and a second covering layer 102, which are bonded together (e.g., through adhesive bonding, high-frequency hot pressing, or sewing).
[0026] The main body 10 structurally defines a first segment 11, a second segment 12, and a flexible portion 13 connecting the first segment 11 and the second segment 12. The flexible portion 13 serves as a folding pivot between the first segment 11 and the second segment 12. Through the flexible portion 13, the first segment 11 can be folded relative to the second segment 12, as shown in Figure 2. For example, the first covering layer 101 and the second covering layer 102 are made of a flexible material, and the flexible portion 13 can be formed between the two segments. For instance, the thickness of the flexible portion 13 can be made slightly less than the thickness of the first segment 11 and the second segment 12 through a hot pressing process, thereby reducing the resistance during material folding and improving the smoothness of folding.
[0027] Please refer to Figures 1 and 2. In some embodiments, the main body 10 may further include a fixing unit 30 for maintaining the pen barrel structure in an adsorbed state. In this embodiment, the fixing unit 30 includes a first magnetic element 31 and a second magnetic element 32 (such as a strong magnet or a soft magnetic sheet). The first magnetic element 31 is disposed within the first section 11, and the second magnetic element 32 is disposed within the second section 12, both sandwiched between the first covering layer 101 and the second covering layer 102, and are not visible from the appearance of the main body 10. This concealed design not only maintains the simple aesthetics of leather products but also prevents the magnetic components from falling off.
[0028] Please refer to Figures 3-4, which are schematic diagrams of the adsorption state of this creation. When the user wishes to use this creation as a bookmark, the main body 10 can be folded around the flexible portion 13 as the axis, so that the second section 12 is aligned with the first section 11. At this time, the first magnetic element 31 and the second magnetic element 32 attract each other magnetically, fixing the main body 10 in the adsorption state.
[0029] Referring to Figures 5-6, a chamber 14 is formed inside the main body 10, located between the first covering layer 101 and the second covering layer 102. Specifically, the chamber 14 is mainly located within the first section 11 to accommodate the pen refill 20, and the length of the pen refill 20 is less than or equal to the length of the first section 11, ensuring that the pen refill 20 does not extend into the flexible portion 13, thus preventing interference from the pen refill 20 when the main body 10 is folded. An opening 111 is provided at the end of the first section 11 away from the flexible portion 13, connecting to the chamber 14, allowing one writing end of the pen refill 20 to pass through.
[0030] As shown in Figure 7, this design is particularly suitable for use with notebooks, notepads, or diaries. Users can clip an inner page of the notebook between the first section 11 and the second section 12, securing it firmly with magnetic attraction. Because the main body 10 has a flat and flexible structure, when the notebook is closed, the pen-like structure neatly folds between the pages, unlike traditional cylindrical pens which can cause the spine to bulge or damage the paper structure. This makes it ideal for users who carry a journal with them. When writing is needed, the user simply applies force to separate the first section 11 and the second section 12, removes it from the inner page, and unfolds it to hold the first section 11 for writing. At this time, the second section 12 can also serve as an auxiliary support or decorative extension, increasing the feel and stability while writing.
[0031] However, the above description is merely a preferred embodiment of this invention and is not intended to limit the scope of this invention; therefore, any equivalent changes and modifications made without departing from the spirit and scope of this invention should be covered within the patent scope of this invention.
