Abstract

Claims

1. A latching device suitable for installation within a server and for securing a plurality of storage devices disposed on a circuit board unit within the server, the storage devices being spaced apart along a first horizontal direction, each storage device including a vertical plate, each vertical plate having a recessed positioning portion on its side, each positioning portion defining a groove, the latching device comprising: a column unit fixed within the server; a crossbar detachably coupled to the column unit, the crossbar extending along the first horizontal direction and being pushable into the groove of the storage device along a second horizontal direction not parallel to the first horizontal direction and pressing against and securing the positioning portion of the storage device; and at least one connector disposed on the crossbar and detachably coupled to the column unit. The crossbar is inserted into the groove of the upright plate and is fixedly connected to the column unit by the connector. The crossbar presses against the positioning part of the upright plate in the direction closer to the circuit board unit. At this time, the upright plate of the storage device cannot move in the direction closer to the crossbar or away from the circuit board unit, so that the crossbar fixes the upright plate of the storage device.
