Abstract

A terminal assembly for an HDMI connector includes an insulating frame, a plurality of terminals, and a chip substrate. The insulating frame has a first portion and a second portion, wherein the first portion and the second portion each have a plurality of terminal slots extending along a mating direction. The plurality of terminals are disposed in the plurality of terminal slots. The chip substrate is disposed between the first portion and the second portion and includes an active chip, wherein the active chip is configured to be electrically connected to at least a portion of the plurality of terminals.

Claims

1. A terminal assembly for an HDMI connector, comprising: an insulating frame having a first portion and a second portion, wherein the first portion and the second portion each have a plurality of terminal slots extending along a mating direction; a plurality of terminals disposed in the plurality of terminal slots; and a chip substrate disposed between the first portion and the second portion, and including an active chip; wherein the active chip is configured to be electrically connected to at least a portion of the plurality of terminals.

2. The terminal assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein the wafer substrate has at least one raised contact protruding outward from a main body surface of the wafer substrate; and wherein the at least one raised contact is configured to electrically connect the at least a portion of the plurality of terminals respectively.

3. The terminal assembly as claimed in claim 2, wherein each of the at least one raised contact is formed by a tongue portion that is defined by a cutting line and protrudes outwardly on the surface of the body portion.

4. The terminal assembly as claimed in claim 2, wherein each of the plurality of terminals has a rigid straight section, wherein the protruding contact contacts the rigid straight section to be electrically connected to the at least portion of the plurality of terminals.

5. The terminal assembly as claimed in claim 4, wherein at least a portion of each of the plurality of terminals further has an elastic segment and a bend connecting the rigid straight segment and the elastic segment, wherein the protruding contact contacts one end of the rigid straight segment near the bend.

6. The terminal assembly as claimed in claim 2, wherein the insulating frame has a wiring slot, and wherein the raised contact is electrically connected to at least a portion of the plurality of terminals via the wiring slot.

7. The terminal assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein the edge of the wafer substrate has a set of contact pads, wherein the set of contact pads is configured to be electrically coupled to a wiring circuit board.

8. The terminal assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein the chip substrate and a wiring circuit board form an integral substrate.

9. The terminal assembly as claimed in claim 1, wherein the insulating frame further has a positioning protrusion, and the wafer substrate has a positioning through hole corresponding to the positioning protrusion.

10. The terminal assembly as claimed in claim 1, further comprising: a conductor housing that at least partially covers the insulating frame.
