Abstract

This novel high-speed edge connector features a housing with a hollow body having a first opening and a second opening, an upper wall and a lower wall, opposing sidewalls, two connecting frames with locating pins, and a metal outer shell covering the walls. Upper and lower rows of terminals are paired, vertically aligned, and straddled within the housing. In each pair, the terminals have substantially the same length. The upper and lower rows are adjacent to their respective walls. Each terminal has a first end and a second end, wherein the first end protrudes through the first opening and is aligned with each other. This paired, face-to-face geometry creates a low-profile connector with shortened loops / stubs, uniform impedance, reduced coupling / electromagnetic interference, and minimized in-pair misalignment, thereby improving signal integrity.
