Abstract

Electric traction system for a rail vehicle comprises a hybrid power unit, an energy storage device, a DC intermediate circuit, a traction motor, and a control system. The hybrid power plant consists of a diesel generator with an uncontrolled rectifier and the aforementioned energy storage device with an on-board charger; the system includes a unit of auxiliary converters, a rheostatic braking unit, and a device for connecting to an external power source; the DC intermediate circuit is connected in series with the energy storage device and the uncontrolled rectifier.
