Abstract

Method for manufacturing a profiled screw blank, in which, on a rolling mill during the first processing pass, a preheated ring-shaped blank, which rotates, is radially rolled between an inner support roll and an outer pressure roll by bringing them closer together and rotating them, until an intermediate ring-shaped billet of larger diameter with a profiled cross-section is formed. In the second processing stage, the aforementioned intermediate ring-shaped billet is subjected to calibrating rolling using the aforementioned rolling rolls while maintaining a constant distance between them. In the second process stage, simultaneously with the calibrating rolling, air-plasma through-cutting of the wall of the aforementioned intermediate ring blank is performed along a helical path using an air-plasma jet.
