[0003] Bras or brassieres can be used to support and shape a wearer's breasts and can provide comfort to the wearer. For best performance, a bra should be properly fitted to a wearer's breasts and body (e.g., cup size, band size, bust size). However, people's body and breast size and shape can change over time (e.g., due to weight fluctuations, hormonal changes, etc.), which means even a fitted bra may not fit and perform satisfactorily over time or may require owning several bras to match the changing body shape. As such, a need exists for a bra that has adjustability to accommodate changes in the wearer's breasts and body.SUMMARY
[0004] The present application is directed generally to a bra or brassiere having adjustable features such that the bra can best fit a wearer even as the wearer's breast and body shape changes over time. For example, a wearer may gain or lose weight or otherwise experience changes in their body and breast shape and size over time (e.g., due to pregnancy, hormonal changes, or other factors). This adjustable bra can allow a user to adjust the size and shape of the bra to best fit their changing body (over a span of days, weeks, or months, or years) to provide the best support and comfort possible without the need for acquiring or being professionally fitted for additional bras.
[0005] The bra may include one or more adjustable buttons positioned at the center-front region, each configured to engage corresponding slots on the cup panels to allow the wearer to modify the effective cup size and the spacing between the cups. The bra may also include an adjustable band that permits the wearer to increase or decrease the band or torso size. In certain embodiments, a deliberate gap is provided between the cup panels and the band so that adjustments to cup spacing and adjustments to band circumference can be made independently without distorting either component. [0010] Provided herein is an adjustable bra 5 configured to support the breasts of a wearer while enabling dynamic modification of cup spacing and band fit. FIG. 1 illustrates an exemplary embodiment of the adjustable bra 5. As shown, the bra 5 includes a band 10 having a circumference sized and shaped to encircle the wearer's chest or torso beneath the breasts, generally functioning similarly to bands of conventional bras in the prior art while incorporating front-located adjustability, as described below. The adjustable bra 5 further comprises a first cup panel 15 and a second cup panel 20, each configured to support a respective breast. The cup panels 15 and 20 may be formed from any suitable textile system, including elastic knits, microfiber blends, molded foam, spacer foam, mesh, lace, or combinations thereof, and may be lined, unlined, lightly padded, or contoured depending on desired performance. In certain embodiments, the cup panels may further include internal sling components or stabilizer layers for shaping and support, and may be partially wrapped toward the side seams to interface with back structures as shown in the drawings.
[0011] In further aspects, the first cup panel 15 includes a plurality of reinforced slots 25a, 25b, 25c, and 25d disposed along the medial (center-front) edges, and the second cup panel 20 includes a plurality of reinforced slots 27a, 27b, and 27c, with additional slots potentially present beneath the visible portions of the cup panels 15 and 20 but obscured from view. A first button 30a is positioned on one side, such as the wearer-facing side, of the first cup panel 15 and is configured to engage any of the slots 27a, 27b, and 27c on the second cup panel. A second button 30b is positioned on the opposite side, such as the outward-facing side, of the second cup panel 20 and is configured to engage any of the slots 25a, 25b, 25c, and 25d on the first cup panel. Because the buttons are located on opposite sides of their respective cup panels, both the first and second buttons can be engaged simultaneously, and a button will be visible on both the front and back surfaces of the bra 5. In various embodiments, more or fewer slots may be provided depending on adjustability desired and size of the cup panels. These corresponding button-and-slot connections allow the cup panels to be selectively coupled to one another in multiple discrete spacing configurations. The slot regions may be reinforced by bar-tack hems or equivalent high-density stitching, laminated backers, or folded seam allowances to withstand localized stress during repeated adjustments. Adjusting the insertion position of the first and second buttons among the slots modifies cup spacing and effective cup volume, thereby enabling controlled adjustment of cup geometry in contrast to fixed front closures prevalent in the art.
[0012] As shown in FIG. 1, the front-located adjustable assembly 35 includes five sets of hook members 40a, 40b, 40c, 40d, 40e, 40f and corresponding loop members 45a, 45b, 45c, 45d, 45e, and 45f. Each hook member includes three curved prongs 50a, 50b, and 50c configured to project forward and interlock with three corresponding loop portions 55a, 55b, and 55c on the loop member. The prongs may be curved, angled, or contoured to facilitate guided engagement, resist unintentional release, and distribute tension evenly across the band when secured. The loop portions 55a, 55b, and 55c may be formed from reinforced textile loops, molded polymeric eyelets, or stitched apertures designed to withstand repeated attachment cycles without deformation.
[0013] Alternative embodiments may include a greater or smaller number of sets of hook members and loop members depending on the degree of adjustability required, the intended support level, or garment sizing considerations. Hook members may comprise more or fewer than three curved prongs, and the corresponding loop members may include a matching number of loop portions, depending on factors such as the desired load distribution, the fineness of adjustability, manufacturing constraints, or stylistic considerations. The front-adjustability is operationally distinct from typical rear-only band adjustments found in conventional bras and synergizes with the cup-spacing system at the center front to provide independent anterior control of both band length and cup geometry.

The gap 60 allows the cup panels 15 and 20 to adjust independently relative to the band, enabling simultaneous modification of cup size, torso circumference, and spacing between the cup panels. Cup spacing adjustments made by inserting the buttons into the slots 25a, 25b, 25c, and 25d occur without deforming the path of the band, and band-length adjustments made at the front-located adjustable assembly 35 do not distort the cup panels because the cups float partially free of the band and are anchored at the center front primarily by the button connection. The gap 60 may be reinforced with bar-tack hems 65a and 65b to distribute concentrated loads and maintain durability during wear. The gap 60 therefore facilitates independent forward-and-backward movement of the cups relative to the torso and allows the wearer to achieve fit combinations that are not possible when the cups and band are constructed as a continuous structure. The adjustable bra 5 further includes a first strap 67a and a second strap 67b, which extend from the first cup panel 15 and the second cup panel 20, respectively, and are configured to extend over the wearer's shoulders. The straps may be reinforced with bar tack hems 65c and 65d. An additional bar-tack hem 65e may be applied to reinforce a central front portion of the cup panels.

The back configuration facilitates tension distribution across the wearer's torso and interfaces with the strap system described below.

In certain embodiments, the back panels 70a and 70b provide multiple strap-attachment locations 77a and 77b, allowing the wearer to reposition the first strap 67a and second strap 67b to align with clothing style or support preferences. [0018] In certain embodiments, the adjustable bra may be constructed from any suitable combination of fabrics, including cotton, mesh, microfiber, elastic knits, or other textile materials selected to provide the desired level of stretch, support, breathability, and comfort. The elastics, straps, and closure components may likewise be formed from any appropriate materials and may be sized to suit the design. The bra may be produced in a wide range of commercially appropriate sizes, including sizes S through 3XL, with dimensional characteristics such as underband width, strap length, seam length, and overbust measurements scaled to maintain proper fit as size increases.

Stitch type Efa 68d may be applied at strap-attachment points or ring loops to form bar-tack hems 65f, 65g, 65h, and 65i to secure high-tension areas that experience load during strap adjustment and wearer movement. The constructions described herein may be modified without departing from the scope of the disclosure, and the examples are intended to be illustrative rather than limiting.

1. A bra comprising:a first cup panel and a second cup panel, the first and second cup panel each configured to support a breast;a first button coupling the first cup panel to the second cup panel and a second button coupling the second cup panel to the first cup panel;the first cup panel and the second cup panel including a plurality of slots for receiving the first button and second button; anda band positioned below the first cup panel and the second cup panel, the band including an adjustable feature that provides for shortening or lengthening a length of the band; anda first strap having a first end coupled to an upper end of the first cup panel and a second end coupled to a back portion of the bra, the first strap being adjustable in length;a second strap having a first end coupled to an upper end of the second cup panel and a second end coupled to a back portion of the bra, the second strap being adjustable in length;wherein positioning the button in different slots of the plurality of slots of the first cup panel and the second cup panel adjusts a spaced relation of the first cup panel relative to the second cup panel.
2. The bra of claim 1, wherein the adjustable feature of the band is positioned at a center-front location of the band.
3. The bra of claim 1, wherein the adjustable feature comprises a hook and loop closure.
4. The bra of claim 1, wherein the hook and loop closure comprises a plurality of hook members and a plurality of corresponding loop members arranged in sets of three curved prongs and three loop portions each.
