Abstract

A hair fastener including an elastic rope forming a first loop. Aa first cord having a first end and a second end extending from the first loop and a second cord having a first end and a second end extending from the first loop. A second loop formed at the second of the first cord and a third loop formed at the second end of the second cord, wherein the fastener is configured to secure a ponytail of the user in a step-by-step process. A method of securing the fastener with hair of the user, including the steps of: utilizing the first loop to make a ponytail at a desired height and head position; extending the first cord over a dominant hand shoulder and the second cord over an opposite shoulder; holding the ponytail with the less dominant hand and using use the dominant hand to wrap the first cord around the ponytail beginning adjacent to the first loop and spiraling down to an end of the ponytail; tying off the second loop at the bottom of the ponytail; and wrapping the second cord around the ponytail in an opposite direction and tying off the third loop at the bottom of the ponytail.

BACKGROUNDTechnical Field

[0002] Most hair fasteners either do not hold hair properly during waters sports, or the fasteners cause damage to the person's hair while controlling hair under water. Braiding dry hair and soaking in water causes the hair to shrink. Once the braid gets wet, the hair shrinks and causes severe tangling and matting. There is a need for a fastener that holds the hair in place with a bungee system that expands and contracts as your hair goes from dry to wet and back again. The provides a hair fastener that does not cause the hair to tangle.

Use your index finger on the hand holding your ponytail to hold the latest spiral in place as you work down your ponytail. Tie off cord 20 at the end of the ponytail with loop 16, as shown in FIG. 7.

Layered hair may require tighter tension and closer spaced coil wrapping to control fly-aways.

Claims

1. A hair fastener, comprising:an elastic rope forming a first loop;a first cord having a first end and a second end extending from the first loop and asecond cord having a first end and a second end extending from the first loop;a second loop formed at the second of the first cord and a third loop formed at the second end of the second cord, wherein the fastener is configured secure a ponytail of the user in a step-by-step process.

A method of securing the fastener of claim 1 with hair of the user, including the steps of:utilizing the first loop to make a ponytail at a desired height and head position;extending the first cord over a dominant hand shoulder and the second cord over an opposite shoulder;holding the ponytail with the less dominant hand and using use the dominant hand to wrap the first cord around the ponytail beginning adjacent to the first loop and spiraling down to an end of the ponytail;tying off the second loop at the bottom of the ponytail; andwrapping the second cord around the ponytail in an opposite direction and tying off the third loop at the bottom of the ponytail.
