[0002] The present invention generally relates to bag assemblies and personal carrying accessories featuring customizable exterior surfaces. More specifically, the present invention relates to a modular backpack system incorporating an interchangeable front panel that enables a user to selectively modify the visual appearance of the backpack without replacing the entire bag. The invention comprises a multi-component assembly that includes a main backpack body having a front face defining a panel interface perimeter on which a first zipper portion is permanently affixed. An interchangeable front panel includes a complementary second zipper portion disposed along its perimeter, enabling the panel to be removably secured to the backpack body through engagement of the zipper portions. In certain embodiments, the backpack body further includes a panel securing member extending outwardly from the lower portion of the interface to provide support and alignment during attachment. Conventional backpacks, however, typically incorporate a single fixed exterior design, limiting the user's ability to modify the backpack's appearance once purchased. As preferences change over time or as trends evolve, users may become dissatisfied or bored with a static design. In many cases, individuals, particularly children, may desire new designs to match social trends, seasonal themes, or the styles possessed by their peers. Purchasing multiple backpacks solely to obtain different exterior appearances can be costly, impractical, and environmentally wasteful. Moreover, children may experience disappointment or social pressure when their classmates possess backpacks with unique or appealing designs while they are limited to a single, unchangeable option. Accordingly, individuals desire a backpack system that provides customizable and interchangeable exterior designs without requiring the purchase of an entirely new backpack.

Additionally, there exists a need for a backpack system that enables users to easily modify the exterior appearance of the backpack without replacing the entire backpack. Moreover, there exists a need for a backpack system that eliminates the need to purchase an entire new backpack to change its specific look or style. Finally, there is a need for a system that features numerous different panel designs that can alter the look and aesthetic of the backpack.

[0005] The subject matter disclosed and claimed herein, in one embodiment, comprises a customizable backpack assembly designed to provide a modular, interchangeable, and aesthetically adaptable exterior panel system. The assembly includes a main backpack body having a rear panel, storage compartments, and shoulder straps, along with a front face defining a panel interface perimeter. A first zipper portion is permanently affixed to the panel interface perimeter through stitching, bonding, or lamination. An interchangeable front panel includes a complementary second zipper portion disposed along its perimeter, enabling the panel to be removably secured to the backpack body by engaging the first and second zipper portions. A modular backpack assembly comprising:a main backpack body;a pair of shoulder straps;a plurality of interchangeable panels; anda fastener;wherein said main backpack body comprises a front face defining at least a portion of a panel interface perimeter;wherein said fastener comprises a continuous zipper track configured to support removable attachment of said plurality of interchangeable panels;wherein said fastener comprises a first zipper portion permanently affixed to said main backpack body;wherein said fastener comprises a second zipper portion, complementary to said first zipper portion, disposed along a perimeter of each of said plurality of interchangeable panels; andfurther wherein a selected one of said plurality of interchangeable panels removable from said main backpack body and replaceable with another selected one of said plurality of interchangeable panels.

2. The modular backpack assembly of claim 1, wherein said plurality of interchangeable panels are configured to be selectively attachable and detachable from said main backpack body through engagement and disengagement of said first zipper portion and said second zipper portion.

The modular backpack assembly of claim 2, wherein each of said plurality of interchangeable panels comprise an indicia selected from the group consisting of a graphic, a logo, a color, a design, a theme, an LED backlight, and an E-Ink display to selectively customize an external appearance of the backpack assembly.

4. The modular backpack assembly of claim 3, wherein said selected one of said plurality of interchangeable panels is different from said another selected one of said plurality of interchangeable panels.

5. The modular backpack assembly of claim 4, wherein when said first zipper portion and said second zipper portion are engaged, said selected one of said plurality of interchangeable panels is selectively attached to said main backpack body.

6. The modular backpack assembly of claim 5, wherein said front face of said main backpack body comprises a first area and said panel interface perimeter defines a second area; further wherein said second area is a majority of said first area.

7. The modular backpack assembly of claim 5, wherein said front face of said main backpack body comprises a first area and said panel interface perimeter defines a second area; further wherein said second area is equal to said first area.

A modular backpack assembly comprising:a main backpack body;a pair of shoulder straps;a plurality of interchangeable panels;a panel securing member; anda fastener;wherein said panel securing member defining a panel interface perimeter;wherein said fastener comprises a continuous zipper track configured to support removable attachment of said panel securing member;wherein said fastener comprises a first zipper portion permanently affixed to said main backpack body;wherein said fastener comprises a second zipper portion, complementary to said first zipper portion, disposed along a perimeter of said panel securing member; andfurther wherein a selected one of said plurality of interchangeable panels removable from said panel securing member and replaceable with another selected one of said plurality of interchangeable panels within said panel securing member.

9. The modular backpack assembly of claim 8, wherein said plurality of interchangeable panels are configured to be selectively attachable and detachable from said panel securing member through engagement and disengagement of said first zipper portion and said second zipper portion.

The modular backpack assembly of claim 9, wherein each of said plurality of interchangeable panels comprise an indicia selected from the group consisting of a graphic, a logo, a color, a design, a theme, an LED backlight, and an E-Ink display to selectively customize an external appearance of the backpack assembly.

11. The modular backpack assembly of claim 10, wherein said selected one of said plurality of interchangeable panels is different from said another selected one of said plurality of interchangeable panels.

12. The modular backpack assembly of claim 11, wherein when said first zipper portion and said second zipper portion are engaged, said selected one of said plurality of interchangeable panels is selectively attached to said panel securing member.

13. The modular backpack assembly of claim 12, wherein a front face of said main backpack body comprises a first area and said panel interface perimeter defines a second area; further wherein said second area is a majority of said first area.

14. The modular backpack assembly of claim 12, wherein a front face of said main backpack body comprises a first area and said panel interface perimeter defines a second area; further wherein said second area is equal to said first area.

15. A method of changing a modular display of a backpack, the method comprising the steps of:providing a main backpack body, a pair of shoulder straps, a plurality of interchangeable panels, and a fastener;wherein said main backpack body comprises a front face defining a panel interface perimeter;wherein said fastener comprises a continuous zipper track configured to support removable attachment of said plurality of interchangeable panels;wherein said fastener comprises a first zipper portion permanently affixed to said main backpack body;wherein said fastener comprises a second zipper portion, complementary to said first zipper portion, disposed along a perimeter of each of said plurality of interchangeable panels;unfastening a selected one of said plurality of interchangeable panels from said main backpack body; andfastening another selected one of said plurality of interchangeable panels with said main backpack body.

16. The modular backpack assembly of claim 15, wherein said plurality of interchangeable panels are configured to be selectively attachable and detachable from said main backpack body through engagement and disengagement of said first zipper portion and said second zipper portion.

17. The modular backpack assembly of claim 16, wherein each of said plurality of interchangeable panels comprise an indicia selected from the group consisting of a graphic, a logo, a color, a design, a theme, an LED backlight, and an E-Ink display to selectively customize an external appearance of the backpack assembly.

18. The modular backpack assembly of claim 17, wherein said selected one of said plurality of interchangeable panels is different from said another selected one of said plurality of interchangeable panels.

19. The modular backpack assembly of claim 18, wherein said front face of said main backpack body comprises a first area and said panel interface perimeter defines a second area; further wherein said second area is a majority of said first area.

20. The modular backpack assembly of claim 18, wherein said front face of said main backpack body comprises a first area and said panel interface perimeter defines a second area; further wherein said second area is equal to said first area.
