Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] A conventional zipper bag is formed by integrally combining a pair of sheet members, which may be made of linear easy-tear films, such as linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE), TSA film, etc.

[0002] In the linear easy-tear film, the polymer molecules are polymerized as a linear chain arrangement along a Machine Direction (MD). Upon applying a stress on the film to be parallel to the machine direction of the linear molecular chain of the polymer, the film will be easily torn and opened by separating the polymer molecules along the machine direction.

[0003] In the conventional zipper bag, when it is torn and opened, coplanar opening edges along the film opening will be formed. That is to say that the two opening edges around the film opening will be evenly formed and the film edges of thin film may be adhered, or attracted each other by static electricity, and difficult to be opened, especially for an elder. [0011] As shown in FIGS. 1 - 5, an easily openable zipper bag having non-overlapping opening edges of the present invention comprises, a first sheet member 10 made of linear easy-tear film, a first sealing strip 11 formed on an upper portion of the first sheet member 10, a first tearing guide line 12 formed on an upper portion of the first sheet member 10 and positioned above the first sealing strip 11, with the first tearing guide line 12 aligned with or parallel to a first linear direction L1, which is defined in an upper portion of the first sheet member 10 and parallel to a first pre-set (or pre-determined) linear tearing direction intrinsically existing in the first sheet member 10; a second sheet member 20 made of linear easy-tear film, having a dimension corresponding to the first sheet member 10, a second sealing strip 21 formed on an upper portion of the second sheet member 20, and engageably locked with the first sealing strip 11 or releasably unlocked from the first sealing strip 11; and a second tearing guide line 22 formed on an upper portion of the second sheet member 20 and positioned above the second sealing strip 21 aligned with or parallel to a second linear direction L2, which is defined in an upper portion of the second sheet member 20 and parallel to a second pre-set linear tearing direction intrinsically existing in the second sheet member 20; wherein the first sheet member 10 are integrally formed with the second sheet member 20 by thermally sealing a right-side edge, a left side edge, and a bottom edge of the first and second sheet members 10, 20 to form a zipper bag having a storage chamber 100 defined between the two sheet members 10, 20 and the two sealing strips 11, 21 for storing foodstuff or other materials in the storage chamber 100; and the two sheet members 10, 20 having their top edges T thermally sealed to form a complete zipper bag.

[0012] As shown in FIGS. 1 - 3, the first sealing guide line 12 is started from an initiating point I adjacent to a marginal sealing area M at a first (or left) end of the zipper bag, and extended transversely towards a second (or right) end of the zipper bag to be parallel to the first linear direction L1, and the second tearing guide line 22 intersecting with the first tearing guide line 22 at the initiating point I and extended sidewardly inclinedly towards a second (or right) end of the zipper bag to define an acute angle A between the second tearing guide line 22 and the first sealing guide line 12. The acute angle A may range from 2 through 15 degrees, but not limited in this invention.

[0013] A notch or tearing slit 40 is formed in the marginal sealing area M adjacent to the initiating point I of the first and second tearing guide lines 12, 22 which are intersected with each other at the initiating point I. The notch 40 may be formed as a V shape (but not limited) converging inwardly to approximate the initiating point I, whereby upon tearing of the zipper film through the notch 40, the stress of the tearing force will simultaneously tear the films of the first and second sheets 10, 20 along the first tearing guide line 12 and the second tearing guide line 22 to form the first opening edge 13 and second opening edge 23 which is inclinedly protruded upwardly above the first opening edge 13 to form a protruded edge portion P such as the triangle shape as shown in FIGS. 3, 4, upon removing of the residual film scrap above the first and second opening edges 13, 23. Such a protruded edge portion P may also known as a “non-overlapping area”, generally formed as triangular shape as shown in FIGS. 3, 4.

[0014] The first linear direction L1 is hypothetically defined in the first sheet member 10, and is parallel to a first pre-set linear tearing direction, which may be considered as a machine direction (MD) intrinsically existing in the first sheet member 10. The first tearing guide line 12 is aligned with (or parallel to) the first linear direction L1, so that upon tearing along the first tearing guide line 12, the first sheet member 10 may be torn to form a first opening edge 13 (FIGS. 3, 4).

[0015] The second liner direction L2 is hypothetically defined in the second sheet member 20, and is parallel to a second pre-set linear tearing direction intrinsically existing in the second sheet member 20. The second tearing guide line 22 is aligned with (or parallel to) the second linear direction L2 so that upon tearing of the second tearing guide line 22, the second sheet 20 may be torn to form a second opening edge 23 which is a protruded edge portion, positioned higher than the first opening edge 13.

[0016] Upon tearing of the second opening edge 23 of the second sheet member 20, a protruded edge portion P, a non-overlapping area without being overlapped with the first sheet member 10, above the first opening edge 13 will be formed for an easy unlocking of the second sealing strip 21 from the first sealing strip 11 for opening the zipper bag as shown in FIG. 5 for taking foodstuff or the like out from the zipper bag.

[0017] By the way, the protruded edge portion P of the second opening edge 23, not overlapped with the first opening edge 13, the opening edges of the first and second sheet member 10, 20 will be easily torn or opened, thereby overcoming the defects of conventional zipper bag, which is opened to form two coplanar opening edges, being difficult to open the bag, especially when the bag film is so thin and possibly be adhered each other.

[0018] Critically, the first and second tearing guide lines 12, 22 are started at the unique initiating point I adjacent to the notch 40, whereby upon tearing of the zipper bag through the notch 40, the stress of the tearing force will simultaneously tear the first sheet member 10 and the second sheet member 20 respectively along the first and second tearing guide lines 12, 22 to easily open the zipper bag.

[0019] Each tearing guide line 12 or 22 is formed, printed, or partially notched, recessed or punched in each sheet member 10 or 20, but not pierced through the thickness of the sheet member or film to prevent from leakage of the zipper bag once sealed.

Claims

1. A zipper bag comprising:a first sheet member made of linear easy-tear film, a first sealing strip formed on an upper portion of the first sheet member, a first tearing guide line formed on an upper portion of the first sheet member and positioned above the first sealing strip, with the first tearing guide line aligned with or parallel to a first linear direction, which is defined in an upper portion of the first sheet member and parallel to a first pre-set linear tearing direction intrinsically existing in the first sheet member; a second sheet member made of linear easy-tear film, having a dimension corresponding to the first sheet member, a second sealing strip formed on an upper portion of the second sheet member, and engageably locked with the first sealing strip or releasably unlocked from the first sealing strip; and a second tearing guide line formed on an upper portion of the second sheet member and positioned above the second sealing strip aligned with or parallel to a second linear direction, which is defined in an upper portion of the second sheet member and parallel to a second pre-set linear tearing direction intrinsically existing in the second sheet member; wherein the first sheet member are integrally formed with the second sheet member by thermally sealing a right-side edge, a left side edge, and a bottom edge of the first and second sheet members to form a zipper bag having a storage chamber defined between the two sheet members and the two sealing strips; and the two sheet members having their top edges thermally sealed to form a complete zipper bag; whereby upon tearing of the first and second sheet members along said first and second tearing guide lines at a side edge of each said sheet member, said two sheet members will be easily torn and opened due to a non-overlapping area formed on a top edge of said second sheet member.

A zipper bag of claim 1, wherein said first sealing guide line is started from an initiating point adjacent to a marginal sealing area at a first end of the zipper bag, and extended transversely towards a second end of the zipper bag to be parallel to the first linear direction, and the second tearing guide line intersecting with the first tearing guide line at the initiating point and extended sidewardly inclinedly towards a second end of the zipper bag to define an acute angle between the second tearing guide line and the first sealing guide line.

3. A zipper bag of claim 2, wherein acute angle ranges from 2 through 15 degrees.

4. A zipper bag of claim 2, wherein a notch is formed in the marginal sealing area adjacent to the initiating point of the first and second tearing guide lines which are intersected with each other at the initiating point.

A zipper bag of claim 4, wherein said notch is formed as a V shape converging inwardly to approximate the initiating point, whereby upon tearing of the zipper film through the notch, the stress of a tearing force will simultaneously tear the first and second sheets along the first tearing guide line and the second tearing guide line to form the first opening edge and second opening edge which is inclinedly protruded upwardly above the first opening edge to form a protruded edge portion upon removing of a residual film scrap above the first and second opening edges; said protruded edge portion being a non-overlapping area adapted for an easy tearing of said second sheet member from said first sheet member.

6. A zipper bag of claim 1, wherein each said tearing guide line is formed, printed, or partially notched, recessed or punched in each said sheet member, without being pierced through a thickness of the sheet member to prevent from leakage of the zipper bag once sealed.

7. A zipper bag of claim 1, wherein said bag further comprises a bottom sheet member formed between two bottom edges of the first and second sheet members to increase storing volume in the bag.
