More specifically, the present invention relates to an anchoring and stabilization device configured for securing beach umbrellas or similar pop-up shade structures in soft ground environments such as sand. Accordingly, the present disclosure makes specific reference thereto. Nonetheless, it is to be appreciated that aspects of the present invention are also equally applicable to other like applications, devices, and methods of manufacture.BACKGROUND
[0003] Improper anchoring of beach umbrellas or pop-up shade structures in soft ground environments such as sand often results in their dislodgement due to wind or incidental contact. This displacement can lead not only to user inconvenience but also to significant safety risks, as airborne umbrellas have the potential to injure nearby individuals. The difficulty in achieving a stable and secure installation arises primarily from the loose nature of sand and similar terrains, which do not provide inherent resistance to upright structures. Users typically attempt to resolve this issue by digging holes of sufficient depth and then backfilling them, a process that is both physically demanding and time-consuming. Moreover, when initial installation attempts fail, users must often relocate to a new area and repeat the process, thereby reducing the overall usability and enjoyment of their outdoor experience. There also exists a long-felt need in the art for an umbrella anchoring and stabilization device that reduces the risk of injury associated with umbrella displacement caused by wind. Moreover, there exists a long-felt need in the art for an umbrella anchoring and stabilization device that enables users of all physical capabilities to achieve secure stabilization without significant physical exertion.
[0005] The subject matter disclosed and claimed herein, in one embodiment thereof, comprises an umbrella anchoring and stabilization device. The device is comprised of an anchoring and stabilization device configured for securing beach umbrellas or similar pop-up shade structures in soft ground environments such as sand. The device comprises an anchor having a body adapted to receive ballast materials including but not limited to sand, water, gravel, or rocks. Integrated within or affixed to the body is at least one frame member that may include one or more retention fasteners, including retractable anchor pins. The device additionally comprises a strap assembly composed of a first strap and a second strap. Each strap is terminated by fasteners to allow for attachment to various structural elements of the umbrella, including the post, radial spokes, or canopy. In storage conditions, the strap assembly is configured to be stored within the anchor body to streamline handling and minimize bulk.

The device 100 is designed to provide a convenient and efficient anchoring solution for stabilizing beach umbrellas 104 or other similar pop-up shade structures in soft ground environments such as but not limited to sand. More specifically, by securing the post 102 (or other structural feature) of the umbrella 104 or similar support structures, the device 100 may reduce the risk of displacement of the umbrella 104 due to wind or incidental contact, thereby enhancing user safety and minimizing the likelihood of injury or equipment damage. The anchor 106 is comprised of a body 108, which may be flexible, rigid, or semi-rigid, and may be made from a fabric-based material such as but not limited to canvas, nylon, polyester, or recycled textile composites. In some embodiments, the body 108 may be formed from a waterproof or water-resistant material such as but not limited to thermoplastic-coated fabrics, laminated composites, or treated weaves, thereby enabling the interior space 112 of the body 108 to be filled with a liquid ballast material 114 such as water. The body 108 may be comprised of a carrying structure 109 such as but not limited to a handle, a strap, a shoulder strap, etc. for carrying.

In an alternate or supplemental embodiment, the anchor 106 or frame member 116 may be comprised of one or more eyelets 122 (as seen in FIG. 2) configured to receive external retention fasteners 124 such as but not limited to stakes or ground pins for securing the anchor 106 to the ground surface.

The strap assembly 126 may be configured to couple the anchor 106 to an upright structure such as but not limited to an umbrella 104 or other similar shade structure, as seen in FIG. 1. 2. The umbrella anchoring and stabilization device of claim 1, wherein the body is comprised of a waterproof or a water-resistant material.
3. The umbrella anchoring and stabilization device of claim 1, wherein the fastener is comprised of a waterproof closure.
4. The umbrella anchoring and stabilization device of claim 1, wherein the body is comprised of a handle, a strap, or a shoulder strap.

A method of using an umbrella anchoring and stabilization device, the method comprising the following steps:providing an umbrella anchoring and stabilization device comprised of a body having an interior space, a fastener configured to provide access to the interior space, and a strap assembly attached to the body comprising a first strap and a second strap;inserting a ballast material into the interior space;positioning the umbrella anchoring and stabilization device on a ground surface near a shade structure;engaging a retention fastener of the umbrella anchoring and stabilization device to fix the anchor in place on a ground surface; and coupling the first strap and the second strap to a structural component of the shade structure.
