[0006] The disclosure relates to smokers and more particularly pertains to a new smoker for cooking foods using multiple methods, such as smoking, frying, and grilling, at the same time.(2) Description of Related Art Including Information Disclosed Under 37 CFR 1.97 and 1.98.
[0007] The prior art relates to smokers. Smokers are a popular appliance for cooking, particularly when making BBQ. Smokers typically burn a combustible fuel source, such as wood or charcoal, to heat up an enclosed housing. The heat created by burning that combustible fuel source cooks the food, and the smoke which is released by burning that combustible fuel source can infuse into the food to add a smoky flavor. The amount of time needed to smoke particular types of foods depends on the type and weight of the particular food. For example, it typically takes at least 30 minutes per pound to smoke a brisket. That often translates into 10 hours or more. The amount of time needed to cook meat, and other foods, via smoking can be a significant barrier for making those foods. Thus, there is a need for a cooking device that can be used to cook foods via smoking at an increased speed. Ideally, such a device would expose the foods to multiple types of heat, such as heat from burning the combustible fuel source and heat from an electric heating unit, to increase the speed at which the device can cook foods.(h) BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0008] An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a housing having an interior space. A rack is positioned within the interior space, the rack being configured to hold a combustible fuel source for cooking a foodstuff. A funnel is positioned within the interior space. The funnel is vertically aligned with the rack wherein the funnel is configured to direct smoke upwardly from the combustible fuel source to cook the foodstuff via smoking. A stovetop is positioned in the interior space wherein the funnel is configured to release smoke into the housing above the stovetop. A stovetop heating element is actuatable to adjust a stovetop temperature of the stovetop. The stovetop heating element is configured to facilitate cooking the foodstuff on the stovetop via frying at the stovetop temperature while the foodstuff is being cooked via smoking at a smoking temperature of the combustible fuel source.

[0021] With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 9 thereof, a new smoker embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.
[0022] As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 9, the multi-functional cooking device 10 generally comprises a housing 12 that has an interior space 14. For example, the housing 12 typically has a base wall 16, a top wall 18, and a peripheral wall 20 that is coupled to and extends between the base wall 16 and the top wall 18 to define the interior space 14. The peripheral wall 20 may include a front side 22, a rear side 24, and a pair of lateral sides 26 that extend between the front side 22 and the rear side 24.
[0023] A plurality of doors 28 are pivotably coupled to the housing 12. Each door of the plurality of doors 28 is openable to facilitate access to the interior space 14. For example, a front door 30 may be positioned on the front side 22 of the peripheral wall 20. The front door 30 may be elongated wherein the front door 30 extends between a top edge 32 that is positioned proximate to the top wall 18 of the housing 12, and a bottom edge 34 that is positioned proximate to the base wall 16 of the housing 12.

The funnel 48 may include a lower edge 50 that defines an inlet into the funnel 48. The lower edge 50 is generally positioned proximate to the rack 42. An upper edge 52 defines an outlet from the funnel 48. The lower edge 50 may have a diameter exceeding a diameter of the upper edge 52, as shown in the Figures.

More specifically, the upper edge 52 of the funnel 48 is generally positioned between the grate 54 and the top wall 18 of the housing 12. In such embodiments, the stovetop 62 is generally accessible through the second side door of the pair of side doors 38 while the second side door of the pair of side doors 38 is opened. For example, heat from the combustible fuel source 44 may facilitate cooking the foodstuff positioned on the stovetop 62 via frying while smoke released from the combustible fuel source 44 facilitates cooking the foodstuff positioned on the stovetop 62 via smoking.

In some embodiments, each enclosure heating element of the plurality of heating elements 76 may be actuatable to adjust a respective enclosure temperature of each respective enclosure of the plurality of enclosures 68.

Additionally, the smoke from the combustible fuel source can be infused into the foodstuff, providing the smoking flavor which makes traditional smoking methods so popular.

A cooker assembly comprising:a housing having an interior space;a rack being positioned within the interior space, the rack being configured to hold a combustible fuel source for cooking a foodstuff;a funnel being positioned within the interior space, the funnel being vertically aligned with the rack wherein the funnel is configured to direct smoke upwardly from the combustible fuel source to cook the foodstuff via smoking;a stovetop being positioned in the interior space wherein the funnel is configured to release smoke into the housing above the stovetop;a stovetop heating element being actuatable to adjust a stovetop temperature of the stovetop wherein the stovetop heating element is configured to facilitate cooking the foodstuff on the stovetop via frying at the stovetop temperature while the foodstuff is being cooked via smoking at a smoking temperature of the combustible fuel source.
2. The cooker assembly of claim 1, further comprising a plurality of doors being pivotably coupled to the housing wherein each door of the plurality of doors is openable to facilitate access to the interior space.
3. The cooker assembly of claim 2, the housing further comprising a base wall, a top wall, and a peripheral wall being coupled to and extending between the base wall and the top wall to define the interior space, the peripheral wall including a front side, a rear side, and a pair of lateral sides extending between the front side and the rear side.
4. The cooker assembly of claim 3, the plurality of doors further comprising:a front door being positioned on the front side of the peripheral wall; anda pair of side doors being positioned on the pair of lateral sides of the peripheral wall wherein each side door of the pair of side doors is positioned on a respective lateral side of the pair of lateral sides.
5. The cooker assembly of claim 4, the plurality of doors further comprising a panel being pivotably coupled to the front door, the panel positioned proximate to a top edge of the front door, the panel being openable to facilitate access to the interior space while the front door is closed.
6. The cooker assembly of claim 1, the stovetop further comprising:a foraminous section having a plurality of apertures; anda continuous surface defining a griddle section wherein the continuous surface is configured to inhibit the foodstuff from dripping through the griddle section while the foodstuff is being cooked.
7. The cooker assembly of claim 1, further comprising a plurality of enclosures being positioned within the interior space of the housing wherein the funnel is configured to release smoke into the housing above the plurality of enclosures.
8. The cooker assembly of claim 7, each enclosure of the plurality of enclosures further comprising:an inner area being configured to receive the foodstuff wherein each enclosure of the plurality of enclosures is configured to facilitate cooking the foodstuff via smoking;an access being openable to facilitate access to the inner area, the access facing the first lateral side of the pair of lateral sides of the peripheral wall of the housing; anda plurality of vents extending through a top side of each enclosure of the plurality of enclosures wherein the plurality of vents are configured to release smoke from each enclosure of the plurality of enclosures.
9. The cooker assembly of claim 7, further comprising a plurality of enclosure heating elements being actuatable to adjust an enclosure temperature within each enclosure of the plurality of enclosures wherein the plurality of enclosure heating elements are configured to facilitate cooking the foodstuff being positioned within each enclosure of the plurality of enclosures via frying at the enclosure temperature while the foodstuff is being cooked via smoking at the smoking temperature.
10. The cooker assembly of claim 1, further comprising a grate being positioned in the interior space wherein the funnel is configured to release smoke into the housing above the grate, the grate being configured to support the foodstuff.
11. The cooker assembly of claim 10, further comprising a grate heating element being actuatable to adjust a grate temperature of the grate wherein the grate heating element is configured to facilitate cooking the foodstuff on the grate via grilling at the grate temperature while the foodstuff is being cooked via smoking at the smoking temperature.
12. The cooker assembly of claim 10, further comprising a grease pan being positioned within the interior space between the rack and the grate wherein the grease pan is configured to inhibit grease from falling from the grate onto the combustible fuel source.
13. The cooker assembly of claim 12, wherein the grease pan is impermeable wherein the grease pan is configured to trap smoke between the grate and the grease pan to facilitate cooking the foodstuff via smoking.
14. The cooker assembly of claim 12, further comprising a lower door being pivotably coupled to the housing wherein the lower door is openable to facilitate access to the interior space, the grease pan being accessible when the lower door is opened to facilitate cleaning the grease pan.
15. The cooker assembly of claim 14, wherein the grease pan is removable from the interior space of the housing through the lower door.
16. A cooker assembly comprising:a housing having an interior space, the housing having a base wall, a top wall, and a peripheral wall being coupled to and extending between the base wall and the top wall to define the interior space, the peripheral wall including a front side, a rear side, and a pair of lateral sides extending between the front side and the rear side;a plurality of doors being pivotably coupled to the housing wherein each door of the plurality of doors is openable to facilitate access to the interior space, the plurality of doors including:a front door being positioned on the front side of the peripheral wall, the front door being elongated wherein the front door extends between a top edge being positioned proximate to the top wall and a bottom edge being positioned proximate to the base wall;a panel being pivotably coupled to the front door, the panel positioned proximate to the top edge of the front door, the panel being openable to facilitate access to the interior space while the front door is closed;a pair of side doors being positioned on the pair of lateral sides of the peripheral wall wherein each side door of the pair of side doors is positioned on a respective lateral side of the pair of lateral sides, each side door of the pair of side doors being positioned adjacent to a junction between the top wall and the respective lateral side of the pair of lateral sides of the peripheral wall wherein each side door of the pair of side doors has a height being less than a height of the front door, the pair of side doors including:a first side door being positioned on a first lateral side of the pair of lateral sides; anda second side door being positioned on a second lateral side of the pair of lateral sides; anda lower door being positioned on the first lateral side of the pair of lateral sides of the peripheral wall, the lower door being positioned proximate to the base wall wherein the lower door is spaced from the first side door of the pair of side doors;a rack being positioned within the interior space, the rack being proximate to the base wall, the rack being configured to hold a combustible fuel source for cooking a foodstuff, the rack extending upwardly from the base wall to define a recess being configured to facilitate ignition of the combustible fuel source, the rack being centered on the base wall, the rack being accessible when the front door is opened;a funnel being positioned within the interior space, the funnel being vertically aligned with the rack wherein the funnel is configured to direct smoke from the combustible fuel source upwardly toward the top wall of the housing to cook the foodstuff via smoking, the funnel including:a lower edge defining an inlet into the funnel, the lower edge being positioned proximate to the rack; andan upper edge defining an outlet from the funnel;a grate being positioned in the interior space, the grate being positioned proximate to the upper edge of the funnel wherein the upper edge of the funnel is positioned between the grate and the top wall of the housing whereby the funnel is configured to release smoke into the housing above the grate, the grate being configured to support the foodstuff, the grate including:a frame being coupled to the peripheral wall of the housing; anda plurality of bars being coupled to the frame wherein the plurality of bars extend between opposing sides of the frame, the plurality of bars being spaced from each other to define a plurality of slits extending through the grate, the plurality of bars being parallel with each other;a stovetop being positioned in the interior space of the housing, the stovetop being positioned proximate to the upper edge of the funnel wherein the upper edge of the funnel is positioned between the stovetop and the top wall of the housing whereby the funnel is configured to release smoke into the housing above the stovetop, the stovetop being configured to support the foodstuff wherein the stovetop is configured to facilitate cooking the foodstuff via frying, the stovetop being positioned between the grate and the upper edge of the funnel, the stovetop including:a foraminous section having a plurality of apertures; anda continuous surface defining a griddle section wherein the continuous surface is configured to inhibit the foodstuff from dripping through the griddle section while the foodstuff is being cooked, the griddle section being planar;a plurality of enclosures being positioned within the interior space of the housing, each enclosure of the plurality of enclosures being positioned proximate to the upper edge of the funnel whereby the funnel is configured to release smoke into the housing above the plurality of enclosures, the plurality of enclosures being positioned above the grate, the plurality of enclosures being positioned proximate to the first lateral side of the pair of lateral sides wherein each enclosure of the plurality of enclosures is accessible through the first side door of the pair of side doors, each enclosure of the plurality of enclosures including:an inner area being configured to receive the foodstuff wherein each enclosure of the plurality of enclosures is configured to facilitate cooking the foodstuff via smoking;an access being openable to facilitate access to the inner area, the access facing the first lateral side of the pair of lateral sides of the peripheral wall of the housing; anda plurality of vents extending through a top side of each enclosure of the plurality of enclosures wherein the plurality of vents are configured to release smoke from each enclosure of the plurality of enclosures;a plurality of heating elements being positioned within the housing wherein the plurality of heating elements are configured to facilitate cooking the foodstuff, the plurality of heating elements including:a grate heating element being actuatable to adjust a grate temperature of the grate wherein the grate temperature is configured to be different than a smoking temperature of the combustible fuel source wherein the grate heating element is configured to facilitate cooking the foodstuff being positioned on the grate via grilling at the grate temperature while the foodstuff is being cooked via smoking at the smoking temperature, the grate heating element being positioned within the frame of the grate;a stovetop heating element being actuatable to adjust a stovetop temperature of the stovetop wherein the stovetop temperature is configured to be different than the smoking temperature of the combustible fuel source wherein the stovetop heating element is configured to facilitate cooking the foodstuff being positioned on the stovetop via frying at the stovetop temperature while the foodstuff is being cooked via smoking at the smoking temperature, the stovetop heating element being positioned within the stovetop; anda plurality of enclosure heating elements being actuatable to adjust an enclosure temperature within the inner area of each enclosure of the plurality of enclosures wherein the enclosure temperature is configured to be different than the smoking temperature of the combustible fuel source wherein the plurality of enclosure heating elements are configured to facilitate cooking the foodstuff being positioned within each enclosure of the plurality of enclosures via frying at the enclosure temperature while the foodstuff is being cooked via smoking at the smoking temperature, each enclosure heating element of the plurality of enclosure heating elements being positioned on a respective enclosure of the plurality of enclosures;a processor being electrically coupled to each heating element of the plurality of heating elements wherein the processor is actuatable to control a respective temperature setting for each heating element of the plurality of heating elements;a control panel being in communication with the processor wherein the control panel is actuatable to actuate the processor, the control panel including a plurality of knobs wherein each knob of the plurality of knobs is actuatable to signal the processor to adjust the respective temperature setting for each heating element of the plurality of heating elements;a power source being electrically coupled to the processor, the power source being a battery, the battery being rechargeable;a pair of shelves being coupled to the housing, each shelf of the pair of shelves extending from a respective lateral side of the pair of lateral sides of the peripheral wall, each shelf of the pair of shelves being positioned between a respective side door of the pair of side doors and the base wall of the housing;a plurality of wheels being coupled to the housing to facilitate movement of the housing, the plurality of wheels being positioned on the base wall, the plurality of wheels including:a first wheel being positioned proximate to a junction between the front side and the first lateral side of the pair of lateral sides of the peripheral wall; anda second wheel being positioned proximate to a junction between the front side and the second lateral side of the pair of lateral sides of the peripheral wall;a support being coupled to and extending from the housing, the support having a height being complementary to a height of the pair of wheels wherein the support and the plurality of wheels are configured to support the housing on a surface while the base wall is parallel to the surface, the support being one of a pair of supports, each support of the pair of supports being aligned with a respective wheel of the plurality of wheels across the base wall of the housing;a grease pan being positioned within the interior space between the rack and the grate wherein the grease pan is configured to inhibit grease from falling from the grate onto the combustible fuel source, the grease pan being impermeable wherein the grease pan is configured to trap smoke between the grate and the grease pan to facilitate cooking the foodstuff via smoking, the grease pan being accessible when the lower door is opened to facilitate cleaning the grease pan, the grease pan being centered beneath the grate;a plurality of retainers being coupled to the grease pan wherein the plurality of retainers secure a position of the grease pan beneath the grate, the plurality of retainers extending between the grate and the grease pan wherein the grease pan is suspended beneath the grate by the plurality of retainers, the plurality of retainers having a length being complementary to a distance between the grate and the lower door wherein the plurality of retainers suspend the grease pan adjacent to the lower door, the grease pan being removably couplable to each retainer of the plurality of retainers wherein the grease pan is removable from the housing through the lower door;a plurality of slots wherein each slot of the plurality of slots extends into a respective retainer of the plurality of retainers, each slot of the plurality of slots having a size being complementary to a size of the grease pan wherein the grease pan is slidably positionable within the plurality of slots to couple the grease pan to the plurality of retainers; anda chimney being coupled to the housing, the chimney being vertically aligned with the funnel wherein the funnel is configured to direct smoke toward the chimney, the chimney being positioned on the top wall wherein the chimney is configured to release smoke from the housing.
