For example, dresses, skirts, and similar garments are primarily worn by women and are worn on the torso and hand down over at least a portion of the legs. They are comprised of a bodice and a skirt which are integrally attached to form a cohesive article of clothing. Lengths, textures, colors, materials, cuts, and shapes of the garment may vary depending on the particular style the user wishes to wear.

The modular garment enables the user to efficiently and readily change the appearance of the garment by interchanging the top layer from the bottom layer.

The modular garment includes a base layer which is releasably engaged to a top layer (i.e., a skin). The top layer can be readily and efficiently replaced to alter the appearance of the garment.

Once connected to the base layer, the top layer provided a unique appearance. The top layer may be provided as a set or a kit which includes multiple top layers. As is shown in FIG. 4, the first and second connection components 120,220 is a hook-and-loop system 400a,400b which connect to form a secure connection between the base layer 100 and the top layer 200.

A modular garment, comprising:a base layer including a main body portion and a plurality of first connection components, wherein the plurality of first connection components comprise a plurality of snap fasteners positioned on an exterior surface of the base layer; anda top layer including a plurality of second connection components, wherein the plurality of second connection components comprise a plurality of complementary snap fasteners positioned on an interior surface of the top layer, the plurality of snap fasteners and the plurality of complementary snap fasteners aligned with one another to enable the removable attachment of the base layer to the top layer via a connection between the plurality of first connection components and the plurality of second connection components.
2. The modular garment of claim 1, wherein the top layer is a removable skin configured to alter the appearance of the modular garment.
3. The modular garment of claim 1, wherein the plurality of second connection components releasably attach the base layer to the top layer, and wherein the plurality of first connection components and the plurality of second connection components further comprise at least one of: one or more hooks, one or more hook-and-loop systems, one or more buttons, or one or more magnets.
4. The modular garment of claim 1, wherein the base layer and the top layer form the modular garment as a dress.
5. The modular garment of claim 1, wherein the first connection components are positioned on an exterior surface of the base layer.
6. The modular garment of claim 1, wherein the second connection components are positioned on an interior surface of the top layer.

11. The modular garment of claim 10, wherein the top layer is a removable skin configured to alter the appearance of the modular garment.
12. The modular garment of claim 11, wherein the components and the plurality of second connection components releasably attach the base layer to the top layer, and wherein the plurality of first connection components and the plurality of second connection components further comprise at least one of: one or more hooks, one or more hook-and-loop systems, one or more buttons, one or more magnets, one or more hook and eye systems, one or more fabric ties, or one or more clasps.
13. The modular garment of claim 12, wherein the base layer and the top layer form the modular garment as a dress.

A modular garment kit, comprising:a base layer constructed of a first fabric and including a main body portion and a plurality of first connection components, wherein the plurality of first connection components comprise a plurality of snap fasteners positioned on an exterior surface of the base layer;a first top layer including a plurality of second connection components, wherein the plurality of second connection components comprise a plurality of first complementary snap fasteners positioned on an interior surface of the first top layer, the plurality of snap fasteners and the plurality of first complementary snap fasteners aligned with one another to releasably attach the first top layer to the base layer, the first top layer having a first appearance; anda second top layer including a plurality of third connection components, wherein the plurality of third connection components comprise a plurality of second complementary snap fasteners positioned on an interior surface of the second top layer, the plurality of snap fasteners and the plurality of second complementary snap fasteners aligned with one another to releasably attach the second top layer to the base layer, the second top layer having a second appearance different from the first appearance,wherein the first top layer and the second top layer are interchangeable on the base layer to alter an overall appearance of the modular garment kit.

The modular garment kit of claim 17, wherein the first appearance of the first top layer comprises a first one of a color, a texture, a design, and a pattern, and the second appearance of the second top layer comprises a second one of the color, the texture, the design, and the pattern different from the first one.
19. The modular garment kit of claim 17, wherein the base layer is configured to remain on a body of a user while the first top layer is removed from the base layer and replaced with the second top layer without requiring the user to remove the base layer from the body of the user.
20. The modular garment kit of claim 17, wherein at least one of the first top layer and the second top layer is sized differently than the base layer.
