Description

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The present invention relates to a resistance exercise machine, and more particularly to a resistance exercise machine that allows a user's feet to step on two pedals to keep his / her feet balanced and prevent falling during training.BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0002] In general, an exercise machine is equipped with a resistance unit to provide a rotational resistance during training, so that the user can choose different rotational resistances for training according to different training modes.

[0003] As disclosed in Taiwan Utility Model Publication No. M633954 on Nov. 11, 2022, a rowing exercise machine comprises a base frame, a paddle unit, a first rotating shaft, a paddle linkage unit, a resistance unit, a pull bar unit, a second rotating shaft, and a pull bar linkage unit. When a first operating force is applied to the paddle unit, a paddle one-way driving wheel and the first rotating shaft are driven to rotate in a first rotational direction. When the first operating force decreases or disappears, the paddle one-way driving wheel is idling on the first rotating shaft in a second rotational direction. When a second operating force is applied to the pull bar unit, the pull bar linkage unit is driven to rotate in the first rotational direction. When the second operating force decreases or disappears, a second return force drives a pull bar one-way wheel to be idling on the second rotating shaft in the second rotational direction. In this way, the rowing exercise machine can be operated in different exercise modes through the paddle unit and the pull bar unit.

Besides, the resistance unit is not compatible with other rowing exercise machines of different specifications or other types of exercise machines.

[0005] As disclosed in Taiwan Patent No. I855983, titled “resistance unit and exercise machine having the same” on Sep. 11, 2024, the resistance unit includes a body, a power-driven resistance unit, a reel, and a cable. The power-driven resistance unit is fixed to the body. The reel is connected to an output shaft of the power-driven resistance unit. The reel is rotated along with the output shaft. The power-driven resistance unit gives a rotational resistance to the reel. The cable is connected to and coiled around the reel. The resistance unit can be used alone for fitness purposes. The exercise machine having the resistance unit includes at least one exercise machine frame. The resistance unit is detachably connected to the exercise machine frame. The resistance unit can be mounted on any exercise machine.

[0006] Although the resistance unit can be used alone for fitness purposes, however, when the user does one-handed resistance exercise, one foot is on the resistance unit and the other foot is on the ground. The two feet are at different heights, resulting in an uneven stance that may cause imbalance and increase the risk of falling. Besides, the resistance unit is relatively heavy, and it is not easy to carry and move the resistance unit, so it is not ideal in use.SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0007] In view of the above-mentioned shortcoming of the prior art, the primary object of the present invention is to provide a resistance exercise machine, comprising a body, a power-driven resistance unit, a reel, a cable, a control unit and a control knob. The body includes an accommodating box extending in a longitudinal direction and two pedals respectively located at two sides of the accommodating box and extending outwardly, horizontally in a transverse direction. The power-driven resistance unit is fixed in the accommodating box. The power-driven resistance unit includes an output shaft for transmitting power. The reel is connected to the output shaft and rotated along with the output shaft. The power-driven resistance unit gives a rotational resistance to the reel. The cable has one end fixed to and wound on the reel and another end defined as a free end. The free end extends out of the accommodating box. The control unit is disposed in the accommodating box. The control unit is in signal communication with the power-driven resistance unit. The control knob is disposed on an outer surface of the accommodating box. The control knob is electrically connected to the control unit. In use, an external force is applied to the free end to pull the cable for overcoming the rotational resistance. When the external force disappears, the power-driven resistance unit reels in the cable through the reel. By turning the control knob, the rotational resistance is adjustable through the control unit.

[0035] As shown in FIG. 1, FIG. 2 and FIG. 3, the present invention discloses a resistance exercise machine, comprising a body 1, a power-driven resistance unit 2, a reel 3, a cable 4, a control unit 5, and a control knob 6.

[0036] The body 1 includes an accommodating box 11 extending in a longitudinal direction X and two wing-shaped pedals 12 respectively located at two sides of the accommodating box 11 and extending outwardly, horizontally in a transverse direction Y for the user's feet to step thereon. The accommodating box 11 is a closed box composed of a casing 11 and a base 12. The top of the casing 11 has a through hole 13 and an opening 14. The two pedals 12 are located at two sides of the base 112, respectively. A handle 15 is provided on one end of the base 112 of the accommodating box 11, and two rollers 16 are provided on the other end of the base 112. When the user lifts the handle 15 upward, the two rollers 16 are on the ground and the body 1 is tilted, such that the user may apply force to the handle 15 for towing and moving the body 1.

Both the power supply terminal 21 and the power switch 22 are exposed on the end of the base 112. The power-driven resistance unit 2 gives a rotational resistance to the reel 3. The power-driven resistance unit 2 and the rotating axis of the reel 3 are arranged horizontally in the transverse direction Y.

[0039] The cable 4 has one end fixed to and wound on the reel 3 and another end defined as a free end 41. As shown in FIG. 4, the free end 41 passes around a horizontal rotating wheel 42 and a vertical rotating wheel 43 in sequence and then extends out of the other end of the accommodating box 11 via the through hole 13. The free end 41 is selectively connected to a grip 44. The grip 44 may be one-handed grip, or the grip 44A may be a two-handed bar (as shown in FIG. 5). A first coupling member 45 having a notch 451 (as shown in FIG. 6) is provided on the free end 41. A locking pin 452 is provided beside the first coupling member 45. A second coupling member 46 is provided on the grip 44. By pressing or releasing the locking pin 452 to open or close the notch 451, the second coupling member 46 is detachably connected to the first coupling member 45. The grip 44 is detachably connected to the free end 41 to obtain the rotational resistance. An external force is applied to the free end 41 through the grip 44. The external force is a pulling force, thereby pulling the cable 4 to overcome the rotational resistance. When the external force disappears, the power-driven resistance unit 2 reels in the cable 4 through the reel 3.

[0040] The control unit 5 is in disposed in the accommodating box 11 and in signal communication with the power-driven resistance unit 2 for controlling the magnitude of the rotational resistance output from the power-driven resistance unit 2.

[0041] The control knob 6 extends out of the opening 14 and is disposed on the outer surface of the accommodating box 11. The control knob 6 is electrically connected to the control unit 5. By turning the control knob 6, the rotational resistance is adjustable through the control unit 5.

[0042] Referring to FIG. 1, FIG. 2 and FIG. 3, when one-handed fitness training is required, a one-handed grip is selected as the grip 44. By turning the control knob 6, the control unit 5 automatically adjusts and sets the magnitude of the rotational resistance output from the power-driven resistance unit 2. As shown in FIG. 7, in use, a user B steps on the two pedals 12 located at the two sides of the accommodating box 11 and extending horizontally in the lateral direction Y. By utilizing the weight of the user B, the body 1 is stabilized on the ground to prevent displacement. Besides, the feet of the user B are at the same level, and the feet can be stably balanced without tilting arbitrarily and falling. Then, the user B grasps the grip 44 at the free end 41 of the cable 4 with one hand. The user B pulls the grip 44 up and down with one hand in a reciprocating manner. Through the grip 44 and the cable 4, the external force (pulling force) is applied to overcome the rotational resistance output from the output shaft 23 of the power-driven resistance unit 2 for doing one-handed resistance exercise.

[0043] Referring to FIG. 3, FIG. 5 and FIG. 8, the grip 44A is in the form of a two-handed bar used for doing two-handed resistance exercise. It is necessary to press the locking pin 452 (as shown in FIG. 9) down, such that the locking pin 452 no longer closes the notch 451 and the notch 451 is open. Thus, the second coupling member 46 can be separated from the first coupling member 45 via the notch 451. Then, the grip is replaced with the grip 44A in the form of a two-handed bar. The second coupling member 46 of the grip 44A passes through the notch 451 and is coupled to the first coupling member 45. Then, the locking pin 452 is released so that the locking pin 452 closes the notch 451, so as to prevent the second coupling member 46 from disengaging from the first coupling member 45. By turning the control knob 6, the control unit 5 automatically adjusts the magnitude of the rotational resistance output from the power-driven resistance unit 2. In use, the user B steps on the two pedals 12 located at the two sides of the accommodating box 11. By utilizing the weight of the user B, the body 1 is stabilized on the ground to prevent displacement. Besides, the feet of the user B are at the same level, and the feet can be stably balanced without tilting arbitrarily and falling. Then, both hands of the user B grasp two ends of the grip 44A. The user B pulls the grip 44A up and down with both hands in a reciprocating manner. Through the grip 44A and the cable 4, the external force (pulling force) is applied to overcome the rotational resistance output from the output shaft 23 of the power-driven resistance unit 2 for doing two-handed resistance exercise like lifting a barbell.

[0044] When it is necessary to move the body 1, as shown in FIG. 10, the grip 44 is first separated from the cable 4. Then, the user B holds and lifts the handle 15 on one end of the base 112 of the accommodating box 11 with one hand so that the two rollers 16 on the other end of the base 112 are on the ground and the body 1 is tilted. By applying force to the handle 15, the body 1 can be towed and moved effortlessly and conveniently, so as to be placed in any location.

[0045] The resistance exercise machine provided by the present invention has the advantages of being compact, lightweight, space-saving, and easy to move and portable, and can be used for doing resistance exercise. In particular, the user can use the resistance exercise machine to do exercise in a limited space. Through the two pedals 12 extending outwardly and located at the two sides of the body, the user B can step on the two pedals 12 so that the feet of the user B are at the same level and the feet can be stably balanced without tilting arbitrarily and falling. The grip 44, 44A is replaceable for the user to do one-handed or two-handed resistance exercise.

Claims

1. A resistance exercise machine, comprising:a body, including an accommodating box extending in a longitudinal direction and two pedals respectively located at two sides of the accommodating box and extending outwardly, horizontally in a transverse direction;a power-driven resistance unit, fixed in the accommodating box, the power-driven resistance unit including an output shaft for transmitting power;a reel, connected to the output shaft and rotated along with the output shaft, the power-driven resistance unit giving a rotational resistance to the reel;a cable, having one end fixed to and wound on the reel and another end defined as a free end, the free end extending out of the accommodating box;a control unit, disposed in the accommodating box, the control unit being in signal communication with the power-driven resistance unit;a control knob, disposed on an outer surface of the accommodating box, the control knob being electrically connected to the control unit;wherein, in use, an external force is applied to the free end to pull the cable for overcoming the rotational resistance, when the external force disappears, the power-driven resistance unit reels in the cable through the reel, by turning the control knob, the rotational resistance is adjustable through the control unit.

2. The resistance exercise machine as claimed in claim 1, wherein the power-driven resistance unit is one of a motor and an electromagnetic brake.

3. The resistance exercise machine as claimed in claim 1, wherein the power-driven resistance unit is located at one end of the accommodating box, and the free end of the cable extends out of another end of the accommodating box.

The resistance exercise machine as claimed in claim 1, wherein the power-driven resistance unit and a rotating axis of the reel are arranged horizontally in the transverse direction, and the cable passes around a horizontal rotating wheel and a vertical rotating wheel in sequence and then extends out of the accommodating box.

The resistance exercise machine as claimed in claim 1, wherein the free end is selectively connected to a grip, a first coupling member is provided on the free end, a second coupling member is provided on the grip, and the second coupling member is detachably connected to the first coupling member.

The resistance exercise machine as claimed in claim 5, wherein the first coupling member has a notch, a locking pin is provided beside the first coupling member, by pressing or releasing the locking pin to open or close the notch, the second coupling member is detachably connected to the first coupling member.

7. The resistance exercise machine as claimed in claim 5, wherein the grip is in the form of a one-handed grip or a two-handed bar.

8. The resistance exercise machine as claimed in claim 1, wherein a handle is provided on one end of the accommodating box, and two rollers are provided on another end of the accommodating box.

9. The resistance exercise machine as claimed in claim 1, wherein the accommodating box is composed of a casing and a base, the two pedals are disposed at two sides of the base respectively, and a top of the casing has a through hole for the free end to extend out of the accommodating box.

10. The resistance exercise machine as claimed in claim 9, wherein the top of the casing further has an opening, and the control knob extends out of the opening to be on the outer surface of the accommodating box.
