TECHNICAL FIELD
[0001] The technical field generally relates to packaging of fragile goods, such as eggs. In particular, the technical field relates to egg containers with egg removal or prehension-ease features.BACKGROUND
[0002] Conventional packages for fragile goods, such as eggs, are subjected to environmental conditions during loading, storage, transport, handling, etc. and thus, the packages must be able to withstand these conditions while simultaneously protecting the fragile goods. Some conventional packages achieve this by providing a lid that covers the top of the fragile goods. However, such packages often do not allow the user to see the fragile goods inside the package.
[0003] Other conventional packages protect the fragile goods by extending the length of the package to extend the length of the fragile goods. However, removing or de-nesting the goods from the package can be difficult when the goods are completely surrounded by the package.
[0004] In view of the above, there is a need for a cost effective solution that would be able to overcome or at least minimize some of the above-discussed concerns.SUMMARY

The package 10 includes a cover 20 and an egg carton 30, the cover 20 being configured to surround the egg carton 30. [0100] With specific reference to FIG. 1, the egg carton 30 includes a body 32 that forms a plurality of egg-receiving cups 40 (twelve in the non-limitative embodiment shown) separated by a row of pillars 50 extending lengthwise. 41. The package of claim 40, further comprising a row of pillars dispersed between the at least two rows of the plurality of egg-receiving cups.

The package of claim 41,wherein the row of pillars comprises at least one prehension-ease pillar having a top surface that is lower than or at an apex of an egg in an adjacent one of the plurality of egg-receiving cups, andwherein the top surface is lower than or at a widest point of the egg in the adjacent one of the plurality of egg-receiving cups.

An egg carton comprising:a body forming a plurality of egg-receiving cups in at least two rows, the body having widthwise sides and lengthwise sides, wherein at least one of the widthwise sides comprises at least one prehension-ease opening defined therein and extending at least 50% of a height of the body.
53. The egg carton of claim 52, further comprising a row of pillars dispersed between at least two rows of the plurality of egg-receiving cups.
54. The egg carton of claim 53, wherein the row of pillars further comprises at least one support pillar having a support surface; andat least one prehension-ease pillar having a top surface.
