Abstract

A baggage seat system for converting luggage into a seat includes luggage with wheels. A seat is positionable on the luggage. A strap is coupled to the seat extending around said luggage to attach the seat to the luggage. A block is positionable abutting a bottom of the luggage. The block has a height greater than a length the wheels extend from the bottom of the luggage for spacing the wheels above a support surface.

[0008] An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising luggage with wheels. A seat is positionable on the luggage. A strap is coupled to the seat extending around said luggage to attach the seat to the luggage. A block is positionable abutting a bottom of the luggage. The block has a height greater than a length the wheels extend from the bottom of the luggage for spacing the wheels above a support surface.

[0017] With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new seat system embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

[0018] As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 5, the baggage seat system 10 generally comprises luggage 12 having a top 14 and a bottom 16. Each of a plurality of wheels 18 is coupled to the bottom 16 of the luggage 12. As shown, the luggage 12 has four wheels 18 positioned at respective corners 20 of the bottom 16 of the luggage. However, it is contemplated that there may be a pair of wheels 18 along one side of the bottom 16 and one or more opposing supports at an opposite side of the bottom 16 of the luggage 12. A seat 20 is positionable on the top 14 of the luggage 12. The seat 22 has a maximum width greater than a width of the luggage 12 wherein the seat 22 has a pair of lateral sections 24 which extend outwardly from the top 14 of the luggage 12 when the seat 22 is positioned on the top 14 of the luggage 12. The seat 22 is constructed of a flexible material such as foam, rubber, or the like. The flexible material may also be resiliently flexible, such as memory foam, or another material suitable for use as a cushion or as is used in other known seating structures. The seat 22 has a triangular peripheral shape 26 such that the seat 22 also has a forward projection 28. A strap 30 is coupled to the seat 22. The strap 30 extends from the seat 22 for wrapping around the luggage 12 when the seat 22 is coupled to the luggage 12. The strap 30 is coupled to each of the lateral sections 24 of the seat 22 such that the lateral sections 24 fold down against opposing sides 32 of the luggage 12 when the strap 30 is secured around the luggage 12. The strap 30 is coupled to each of the lateral sections 24 along a peripheral edge 34 of the seat 22 to facilitate folding down of the lateral sections 24 while the seat 22 is secured to the luggage 12. The strap 30 may have a break 44 with fixed ends 46 coupled to a bottom surface 48 of the seat 22 as shown in FIG. 2. The strap 30 has a pair of ends 36. The pair of ends 36 may be generally equidistant from the seat 22. Mating members 38 are coupled to each of the ends 36 of the strap 30. The mating members 38 are complementary such that the mating members 38 are engageable to secure the strap 30 into a loop 40 around the luggage 12. The mating members 38 may be hook and loop fastener 42 to have a generally flat presentation for reasons to be seen below.

[0019] A block 50 is positionable abutting the bottom 16 of the luggage 12. The block 50 has a height greater than a length the plurality of wheels 18 extends from the bottom 16 of the luggage 12. Thus, the block 50 is configured for spacing the plurality of wheels 18 above a support surface 52. The block 50 is coupled to the luggage 12 by the strap 30. The block 50 has a top face 54 and a bottom face 56 and a peripheral surface 58 extending between the top face 54 and the bottom face 56. The peripheral surface 58 has a tapered section 60 adjacent to the top face 54 of the block 50. The tapered section 60 can facilitate positioning of the block 50 between the wheels 18 although the block may also be used in an inverted position if desired. The block 50 may be constructed of a lightweight yet sturdy foam, rubber, composite, or other material suitable for support of the typical total weight contemplated for the luggage 12, seat 22, and person seated on the seat 22. The block 50 may also be constructed of a material which will provide frictional resistance to sliding on the support surface 52. It is further contemplated that frictional resistance may be provided through use of a coating or other attachment to the block 50 to define the bottom face 56.

[0020] A pocket 66 is coupled to the seat 22. The pocket 66 is positioned on a top surface 68 of the seat 22. The pocket 66 is further positioned on one of the lateral sections 24 wherein the pocket 66 will extend parallel to a lateral surface 70 of the luggage 12 when the lateral section 24 is folded down against the lateral surface 70 of the luggage 12. The pocket 66 may have an open end 72 to face upwardly when the lateral section 24 is folded down.

[0021] In use, the seat 22 is positioned on the luggage 12 the block 50 is positioned between the wheels 18, and the strap 30 is secured to hold the seat 22 and block 50 against the luggage 12. The seat 22 may then be used for sitting while the block 50 supports the luggage 12 in a stable position on the support surface 52.

[0022] With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.

Claims

1. A luggage seat system comprising:luggage having a top and a bottom;a plurality of wheels being coupled to said bottom of said luggage;a seat, said seat being positionable on said top of said luggage;a strap coupled to said seat, said strap extending from said seat wherein said strap is configured for wrapping around said luggage when the seat is coupled to said luggage; anda block, said block being positionable abutting said bottom of said luggage, said block having a height greater than a length said plurality of wheels extends from said bottom of said luggage wherein said block is configured for spacing said plurality of wheels above a support surface.

2. The luggage seat system of claim 1, further comprising said block being coupled to said luggage by said strap.

3. The luggage seat system of claim 1, further comprising said seat having a maximum width greater than a width of said luggage wherein said seat has a pair of lateral sections which extend outwardly from said top of said luggage when said seat is positioned on said top of said luggage.

4. The luggage seat system of claim 3, further comprising said seat being constructed of a flexible material.

5. The luggage seat system of claim 4, further comprising said strap being coupled to each of said lateral sections of said seat such that said lateral sections fold down against opposing sides of the luggage when said strap is secured around said luggage.

6. The luggage seat system of claim 5, further comprising said strap being coupled to each of said lateral sections along a peripheral edge of said seat.

7. The luggage seat system of claim 1, further comprising said seat having a triangular peripheral shape.

The luggage seat system of claim 3, further comprising a pocket coupled to said seat, said pocket being positioned on a top surface of said seat, said pocket being positioned on one of said lateral sections wherein said pocket is positioned parallel to a lateral surface of said luggage when said lateral section is folded down against said lateral surface of said luggage.

9. The luggage seat system of claim 1, further comprising said block having a top face and a bottom face and a peripheral surface extending between said top face and said bottom face, said peripheral surface having a tapered section adjacent to said top face of said block.

10. The luggage seat system of claim 1, further comprising:said strap having a pair of ends; andmating members coupled to each of said ends of said strap, said mating members being complementary such that said mating members are engageable to secure said strap into a loop around said luggage.

11. The luggage seat system of claim 10, further comprising said mating members being hook and loop fastener.

12. A luggage seat system comprising:luggage having a top and a bottom;a plurality of wheels being coupled to said bottom of said luggage;a seat, said seat being positionable on said top of said luggage, said seat having a maximum width greater than a width of said luggage wherein said seat has a pair of lateral sections which extend outwardly from said top of said luggage when said seat is positioned on said top of said luggage, said seat being constructed of a flexible material, said seat having a triangular peripheral shape;a strap coupled to said seat, said strap extending from said seat wherein said strap is configured for wrapping around said luggage when the seat is coupled to said luggage, said strap being coupled to each of said lateral sections of said seat such that said lateral sections fold down against opposing sides of the luggage when said strap is secured around said luggage, said strap being coupled to each of said lateral sections along a peripheral edge of said seat, said strap having a pair of ends;mating members coupled to each of said ends of said strap, said mating members being complementary such that said mating members are engageable to secure said strap into a loop around said luggage, said mating members being hook and loop fastener;a block, said block being positionable abutting said bottom of said luggage, said block having a height greater than a length said plurality of wheels extends from said bottom of said luggage wherein said block is configured for spacing said plurality of wheels above a support surface, said block being coupled to said luggage by said strap, said block having a top face and a bottom face and a peripheral surface extending between said top face and said bottom face, said peripheral surface having a tapered section adjacent to said top face of said block;a pocket coupled to said seat, said pocket being positioned on a top surface of said seat, said pocket being positioned on one of said lateral sections wherein said pocket is positioned parallel to a lateral surface of said luggage when said lateral section is folded down against said lateral surface of said luggage.
