[0001] The present subject matter relates generally to dishwashing appliances or, more specifically, to dishwashing appliance tub trim locating features.BACKGROUND
[0002] Dishwashing appliances generally include a tub that defines a wash chamber. Rack assemblies can be mounted within the wash chamber of the tub for receipt of articles for washing. Multiple spray assemblies can be positioned within the wash chamber for applying or directing wash liquid (e.g., water, detergent, etc.) towards articles disposed within the rack assemblies in order to clean such articles. Dishwashing appliances are also typically equipped with one or more pumps, such as a circulation pump or a drain pump, for directing or motivating wash liquid from the sump to, e.g., the spray assemblies or an area outside of the dishwashing appliance.
[0003] Tub trim is commonly used to protect components of dishwashing appliances exposed to the operator, such as metal collar edges, and / or may acoustically isolate the interior of dishwashing appliances to reduce noise created by dishwashing appliances, such as during a cycle. The tub trim is typically installed either prior to shipping, such as in a manufacturing or assembly factory, or after shipping, such as in a home by a dishwashing appliance installation technician. [0029] Turning now to the figures, FIGS. 1 through 3 depict an exemplary dishwasher or dishwashing appliance (e.g., dishwasher 100) that may be configured in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure. Generally, dishwasher 100 defines a vertical direction V, a lateral direction L, and a transverse direction T. Each of the vertical direction V, lateral direction L, and transverse direction T are mutually perpendicular to one another and form an orthogonal direction system.

A water inlet valve (not shown) can be positioned between the external water supply line and circulation pump 152 (e.g., to selectively allow water to flow from the external water supply line to circulation pump 152). [0041] In optional embodiments, circulation pump 152 urges or pumps wash liquid to a diverter 156 (FIG. 3). In some such embodiments, diverter 156 is positioned within sump 138 of dishwasher 100). Diverter 156 may include a diverter disk (not shown) disposed within a diverter chamber 158 for selectively distributing the wash liquid to the spray assemblies 134, 142, or other spray manifolds or assemblies. When assembled, user interface 164 may be in operative communication with the controller 160 via one or more signal lines or shared communication busses.

Although exemplary constructions of the collar 200 and the tub trim 202 are described herein, it should be appreciated that variations and modifications may be made to the collar 200 and the tub trim 202 while remaining within the scope of the present subject matter.
[0054] According to some example embodiments, the front side 111 of the tub 104 may include a plurality of boundary surfaces that surround an opening 201 to the wash chamber 106. For example, the front side 111 of the tub 104 may include a pair of opposing lateral sides, such as a first or left-side boundary surface 204 and a second or right-side boundary surface 206. The front side 111 of the tub 104 may also include a third or top side boundary surface 208. The left-side boundary surface 204 may extend approximately in the vertical direction V downward from a left-side 210 of the top side boundary surface 208. Furthermore, the top side boundary surface 208 may extend along the top 107 of the tub 104 approximately in the lateral direction L.

For example, as described herein, the collar segments 213 include a first or left-side collar segment 214 (FIG. 4), a second or right-side collar segment 216 (FIG. 4), and a third or top side collar segment 218 (FIG. 4). Generally, as best illustrated in FIG. 5, each collar segment 213 defines a length l, a width w, and a depth d. Each of the length l, width w, and depth d are mutually perpendicular to one another. A dishwashing appliance defining a vertical direction, a lateral direction, and a transverse direction, the dishwashing appliance comprising:a tub defining a wash chamber therein for receipt of articles for washing;a door rotatably coupled to the tub for movement between a closed position and fully open position thereby facilitating access to the wash chamber; anda collar positioned outside of the wash chamber and on the tub, the collar comprising:a main collar body comprising a base plate, the main collar body also comprising a flange protruding from the base plate and extending along a first end of the base plate, the first end spaced apart from and approximately parallel to a second end of the base plate; anda locating tab extending from the flange directly alongside the base plate,wherein, the locating tab is configured to be received within a notch of a tub trim for positioning the tub trim on the dishwashing appliance.

The dishwashing appliance of claim 1, wherein:the tub comprises a pair of opposing lateral sides;the collar comprises a first collar segment, a second collar segment, and a third collar segment, the first collar segment connected to the second collar segment and the third collar segment;the first collar segment extends laterally along a top side of the tub;the second collar segment extends vertically along a first one of the pair of lateral sides of the tub; andthe third collar segment extends vertically along a second one of the pair of lateral sides of the tub.
3. The dishwashing appliance of claim 1, wherein the locating tab extends relative to the flange such that an angle between 75 degrees and 105 degrees is defined between the locating tab and the flange.

The dishwashing appliance of claim 1, wherein the flange is a first flange, and the locating tab is a first locating tab, wherein:the main collar body further comprises a second flange protruding from the base plate and extending along the second end of the base plate, the second flange approximately parallel to the first flange; andthe collar further comprises a second locating tab extending from the second flange directly alongside the base plate, the second locating tab axially aligned with the first locating tab.

A dishwashing appliance defining a vertical direction, a lateral direction, and a transverse direction, the dishwashing appliance comprising:a tub defining a wash chamber therein for receipt of articles for washing;a door rotatably coupled to the tub for movement between a closed position and fully open position thereby facilitating access to the wash chamber;a collar positioned outside of the wash chamber and on the tub, the collar comprising:a main collar body defining a surface; anda locating tab extending from the surface of the main collar body; anda tub trim defining a notch therethrough, whereby the locating tab of the collar is received through the notch for coupling the tub trim to the collar.

The dishwashing appliance of claim 12, wherein:the tub comprises a pair of opposing lateral sides;the collar comprises a first collar segment, a second collar segment, and a third collar segment, the first collar segment connected to the second collar segment and the third collar segment;the first collar segment extends laterally along a top side of the tub;the second collar segment extends vertically along a first one of the pair of lateral sides of the tub; andthe third collar segment extends vertically along a second one of the pair of lateral sides of the tub.
14. The dishwashing appliance of claim 12, wherein the locating tab extends relative to the surface of the main collar body such that an angle between 75 degrees and 105 degrees is defined between the locating tab and the surface of the main collar body.
